Can any of you lovely people recommend a good basic baby monitor? I am after something fairly simple which just does audio, not video or movement, and would prefer not to spend a fortune... There are so many out there and they all seem way too fancy - help!0

Bex, also after a very basic one!
Another nappy issue here! Recently moved up to Tesco size 2 nappies as size 1 was too tight on his legs and rubbing terribly. First few days were great but today they keep leaking out the top on the side! Been through 4 outfits today!! Hoping it doesn't last!0 -

He hates them to the point where he won't change her if she's wearing one, he thinks they make the washing machine "dirty" (?!) and he goes a bit purple every time he sees me put one on her. So we have gone back to disposables.
Up until now I have been using the Pampers New Baby ones, but I've just gone up a size due to poo leakage and turns out they still leak - they're clearly big enough but just not holding it in. A likes to spend about 20 minutes over a poo, doing it in stages - gush, think, grunt, squeal, gush, think, grunt etc - and by the time she has finished it's leaked out the sides and down her leg, plus up to her belly button. I guess at 3.5 months she is not really a "new" baby anymore - so where do I go next? What's good? There seem to be a thousand million different types out there! She's quite small for her age, about 10.5lb and not very chubby but very busy in the kicking department.aventurine wrote: »I need to read up some more about BLW methinks. So if you wean earlier than the recommended 6 months, it has to be purees then? Presumably because they can't hold the food and guide it to their mouths before then?0 -
Thanks Elisabeth, I'll have a look!!
Re: nappies, we had lots of leakage issues with pampers newborn,I have changed to Pampers Active Fit during the day (when she poos) and Baby Dry at night. A tip that made a huge difference to me: do not just open the nappy, pass your fingers underneath the rims, the edges that go around the legs, before putting it on and make sure they are completely out and stretched, I found that a good part of it stayed flat with the nappy or towards the inside instead of creating a barrier around the leg. Once I started doing this, my leakages (well, hers!) reduced by 90%. Also make sure the size is right according to weight and the waist is well closed too. Btw, Boots has a pack of Baby Dry 112 (or similar number, over a hundred) for £15, worked about 12p per nappy.
Here bouncing her to sleep, my shoulders are killing me! Thanks god for mobile phones and internet, otherwise I'd be bored to death walking up and down too! Lol

thank you so much jannine xx
nappies, my 6 week old baby started leaking since last week, shes using pampers newborn size 1( shes 8lb 3,), everytime she does a poo it goes up to her back, it is so bad that i just take her straight to the sink and wash her. i thought it was cos she is being mixed fed now, she poos so much, thankfully is every other day.Mejor morir de pie que vivir toda una vida de rodillas.0 -
ohh about long sleeved sleepuits, i use one everyday cos it is cold, then nappy and tights, then put a long sleeve t shirt/ cardigan and some leggings- i have socks on thingys but i prefer just putting tights on so her legs are warm.
to sllep i remove the leggins and leave the tights on and put sleeping bag on. so she has 2 long layers in arms otherwise she gets too cold.
in summer i use short sleeve ones under everything until they are 1 year old.Mejor morir de pie que vivir toda una vida de rodillas.0 -

I would recommend either the BT 200 or BT250, depending on what your budget it, both are good.Married 13/03/10 #1 DD born 13/01/12!!

Oh, and on long sleeved vests, I HATE how tshirts and tops ride up when you pick your LO up, so i just use l/s vests instead of tops most of the time so she doesnt end up with an exposed belly all the time, and under cardi/jumper/shirt. etc when it is chilly. It is only now CJ is walking and i dont have to lug her round anywhere that i am starting to use normal tshirts by themselves.Married 13/03/10 #1 DD born 13/01/12!!

For anybody looking for a very cheap baby monitor we now have this one. It works very well in our house which is new build but not so sure how effective it would be in a more solid older house.
I bought it for when my daughter is unwell as she has difficulty vommiting and will choke if lying down. It picks up every sound and even picks up the sound of her rolling around in her cot which is 2 metres away from the monitor.0 -
Hi ladies,
Strange question for ladies with older babies, do your babies sleep on their tums ever? Poppy is in her sleeping bag and has managed to get on her front for the first time! Will she be ok or should i turn her over! Slightly worried about her and keep going to check on her!:heart2: Newborn Thread Member :heart2:
