Is she very wriggly missbunbury? I find they don't leak if we can get her to a changing mat without a wriggle. I want to keep her in smaller nappies to contain the poo but they make her legs all red so i don't know what the answer is. The babydry aren't better than the newbaby for ourbaby- have you tried changing her before you feed her so that the nappy is completely clean ready for the poo? i know you'd have to change her twice but it would save some outfits!

welcome elisabeth, love the name :) thanks for the lin kto the book !

Yep, spot on - it's a wriggling issue! But because the poo takes twenty minutes to do in its entirety, it's very difficult to keep her clean for the whole time. Currently I am using a tactic of getting her on the wipe clean mat, nappy only, at the first squirt (!) and then just waiting until the poo is over by which point is has dribbled everywhere but if I am lucky it'll only be on the mat and a bit on me. The real nightmare is when she decides to poo when we're out and about, within about two minutes I have passers-by looking at me funny, sniffing the air in exaggerated "what-is-that-cottage-cheese-stench" fashion and whispering to each other "that baby has faeces up to its neck, she must not have changed it for days!"

lol - oh dear, sorry I forgot the bit about the 20 minute poo! Agree, must be AWFUL when you are out! Gosh I'm really not sure what to suggest! I find the new baby soaks up more than baby dry in terms of pampers - I'm going to be gutted when she grows out of the new baby which will be quite soon!

    Hi all :)

Interesting to read about the nappy situation - we are having similar issues. I did go up to size 4's recently after LO was weighed at 15lbs 15oz a few days ago, so therefore just able to fit in that size, but we still had a leaky poo down the leg :( . I can't remember having this amount of problems with my boys as far as leaky poo goes... I wondered if it were a boy/girl thing, but apparently not? It seems to spread everywhere with DD - right up her back, and more concerning, right up near her belly button, as someone mentioned earlier. Doesn't seem to matter what brand we try either. I can only surmise that the quality of nappies isn't as good as it was a decade or more ago :( Not good.

I can't believe my giantess of a baby! 98th centile! I was a little sheepish at clinic the other day when I found out the boy on the mat next to us was 8 months old and looked about the same size as DD. I think she'll be about 8 foot tall and 25 stone by the time she stops growing at this rate! DS2 was the opposite - on the 2nd centile at birth, and has only just reached the dizzy heights of the 25th 12 years later! DS1 is Mr Average, always along the 50th, so I've got them evenly spread out across the charts LOL. Well they do say you never get two (or three!) the same...

    Hi ladies
Having a lazy Saturday here, its throwing it down so not leaving the house or getting dressed! Got my little lady sleeping on my chest, she's not done that for a long time so enjoying the cuddles! Looking forward to being spoilt tomorrow, breakfast in bed and having my tea made!!
Morocha, posted some stuff off yesterday, ended up sending quite a bit, hoping you get some use from them.

BTW, I really don't think we'll reach the 6 month mark before weaning at the rate she's growing. We're on 8oz bottles now, at not quite 3 months old.

I am looking at baby led weaning, but also feel that she'll need some sort of spoon feeding too (to satisfy her)...plus traditional weaning is what I know, and what I'm most comfortable with. So I'm looking at doing a mixture of both from the start. I.e. 'traditional style' breakfasts with BLW lunches etc..Obviously I will be holding off as long as possible, I know 17 weeks is the absolute earliest they recommend, but I'm pretty sure we'll be ready by then. Has anyone else done the mixed approach?

I think doing a bit of both is just traditional weaning with finger foods :) thats the route we went down :) he was doing really well but ATM is eating pretty much f all. I wish we'd done BLW from the beginning.

We weaned at 17 weeks on medical advice. So couldn't do BLW :(

I need to read up some more about BLW methinks. So if you wean earlier than the recommended 6 months, it has to be purees then? Presumably because they can't hold the food and guide it to their mouths before then?

Yep, the book by gill rapely is really good, it explains it all in detail.

There is a fab group on Facebook too, if you search for Baby Led Weaning. The ladies are fab and can answer any questions you have xx
