  • Oh and a quick Q - what do you use long sleeve vests for with girls? We have a pack and I'm not sure what to do with them. Do they go under sleepsuits or with leggings/skirts or just for under dresses? Feel a bit silly asking! :o
I used long sleeved vests in the summer when it was too cool for a short sleeved vest but too warm for a babygrow. I don't use them under clothes though - I just use T-shirts but judging my the vast quantities of vests I've been given I am atypical in my lack of vest usage.

I also have a boy but wear long sleeve vests under short sleeve tshirt a and trousers. Like him doubled up on top in this weather.

So for a girl the same or under tights / leggings and short sleeve top / dress?

marta - no advice for you about breaking habits, I don't know how to break the dummy habit now. If I don't do it in the next couple of weeks, I'll have to wait until she is much older to understand not to have it. Anyone taken the dummy away at 12 weeks? She is reliant upon it for random cries and minor hysterics rather than sleeping, we don't really give it her for sleeping.

I took G's dummy away when he was 8.5 months. He used it for sleeping and I refused to get up umpteen times a night to stick it back in! Only really took one full day and a night of controlled crying for him to get over it. If it hadn't been for him waking up and yelling for it in the night I'd have probably left it with him. Tbh I'm not sure why it would make all that much difference when you take it away, pre or post 12 weeks?

At soft play today there was a baby girl in a long sleeved vest over striped tights. Looked ADORABLE.

  • Thanks for all the answers about the long sleeved vests i was pondering about putting them under sleep suits but thought it might be too warm - but then poor babas arms are freezing in the morning as she has her sleeeping bag and only one layer covering her arms. why didnt i think of this sooner?! will use them with leggings and under dresses too. thank you :)

We always use a vest here too, so long sleeved ones go under short sleeved tops if it's too cold for bare arms, or under dungarees if I'm going to put a loose shirt or thin cardy over the top.

Peanut you're a genius! My LO has been wearing long sleeve vests all winter under his sleepsuits / long sleeve tops but I never thought to use them with short sleeve tops. We were given a few t-shirts and he never got to wear any as it was too cold but we'll finally be able to wear them.

Silly moo it's only because me and OH are skaters / surfers and our 'style' is long sleeve tshirt and short sleeve over the top. Lol

We use them under sleeveless dresses and with trousers. She only has one skirt, but I'd use them with that too!

Oh, and as for silly questions - there's no such thing round here! Let's not forget that I did once ask how to prepare a Weetabix :rotfl:
