    thanks for the code Nutella

well I managed to go to Mama & Papas outlet, Asda, Next, Mama & Papas, Boots & Gap without spending. there are a few things that caught my eye but I'm waiting for the nct sale plus there's another nct sale next weekend. I bought loads in the sainsbury's 25% discount event and recently got 2 outfits from the mama & papas outlet so I feel like I've spent a lot recently. Plus little man is almost growing out of newborn size so he'll get a brand new wardrobe soon in 0-3 months size.

I must say the Next Christmas stuff is fantastic!

Can I ask what nct stands for?

I can't remember exactly when ours started smiling, it normally takes sixish weeks for them to smile as the facial muscles have to develop more for them to smile.

So, our youngest was born in February and last weekend he finally came home! Big sis is certainly not impressed, I'm pretty sure she thought he was just this weird wriggling thing we occasionally gorped at in hospital!
  • Morning all, LO is with her nanny today so I'm taking the opportunity to relax. I should be doing housework but sod it, that can be done tomorrow. Got to go food shopping but not until I've had a long lazy bath :D

hi everyone sorry i havent posted in a while, but i have been reading and catching up on my pad, but it takes so slow to reply on there especially as i only seem to have 1 arm now to do things with LO.

i was wondering about the smile timings as well, LO will be 5 weeks this weekend and its the same with me not matter what i do or giggle to her...nothing. she seems such a serious baby, it just seems to be eating, sleeping, frowns and cries at the moment but i suppose thats normal for newborns?

we are having a bit of trouble with feeding, LO is ff and we started out on 1st infant on sma and she just seemed to have really bad trapped wind and be in a lot of pain and so far we have tried infacol, dentinox and colief and no we are currently on by request of hv the sma comfort milk.

there hasnt been really any difference so they have recommended i now go to the doctor and ask for a prescription for a low/lactose free formula? has anyone else been through this?

and the other thing is, it just seems like constant feeding and one bottle leads into another, shes on 150ml/5 oz of formula now and will sometimes drain this in one go, other times she will have 90ml and then have the rest in a second sitting. Nothing seems to satisfy her really and when she is eating shes fighting to get the teat and guzzling it down. do you think this might be linked to the formula problem? shes putting on weight and weighed 9lb when the hv weighed her the other day.

it just seems as if a new day brings a whole new set of worries at the moment.

NCT is the national childbirth trust and they give courses, run groups and have 'nearly new' sales for second hand stuff. I went today but was half an hour late so a lot of the stuff had gone. I got a fluffy next coat for a fiver and an asda winnie the pooh cream outfit for £3.

my little un is 8 weeks old and is only just starting to exercise his smiling muscles now and only for his dad's goofy faces.

cleofish have you considered changing the teat? maybe a variflow teat? my friend's baby has the comfort milk and because it's a bit thicker, baby struggles to get it out of the bottle so she changed teats. Also, I use gripe water sometimes for wind. Little man is windy despite being exclusively breast fed now.

sparkles a day off sounds wonderful! stuff the housework.

Gwylim congrats on baby coming home.

Ok Nutella......the white towels are lovely...but nothing stays white in our house - despite me using biological powder!

If anyone is formula feeding and gets fed up making bottles etc... - get yourself a Perfect Prep machine - only £48.96 on Amazon (never seen it this cheap...ever - and they go for the same price, or higher on Ebay secondhand!) http://www.amazon.co.uk/Tommee-Tippee-Closer-Nature-Perfect/dp/B00BG6304A/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1384025253&sr=8-1&keywords=tommee+tippee+perfect+prep

Mine has been my most valued piece of baby equipment! A ready to feed bottle in around a minute!:T

As for smiling my LO gave a few brief smiles around 6 weeks but the real lengthy giggling has only just started (20 weeks) - she is finding me rattling my keys and pretend sneezing absolutely hilarious at the moment!

I would consider the prep machine when we have another, it looks fab. Can u take it upstairs? I.e, can you do the night feeds without having to go downstais?

Yes - you can take it wherever you want (as long as there is a power socket) BUT it has quite a loud beep with the first shot of hot water and then another loud beep at the end! Never wakes up my LO - but it might the rest of your household! LOL!

It is absolutely wonderfully fab!!!! I love it so much! :p (it must also save electricity as I don't have to boil the kettle!)
