Not sure about couscous but spaghetti certainly does ;)

Oh dear - has your LO been chucking it around??!! (or have you had a couscous "moment"??!!).

Not chucking - she's doing her very best whenever she eats it (it helps that she loves it!), but inevitably grains do fall off the spoon (as they did today), and when they do, they multiply. I'm absolutely certain :o

Oh, and Sunshine - you're so very right about spaghetti! :rotfl:

Yes - you can take it wherever you want (as long as there is a power socket) BUT it has quite a loud beep with the first shot of hot water and then another loud beep at the end! Never wakes up my LO - but it might the rest of your household! LOL!

It is absolutely wonderfully fab!!!! I love it so much! :p (it must also save electricity as I don't have to boil the kettle!)

I love ours too. Have bought one for grandparents house & am considering having a second one upstairs - 3 storey house means 2 flights of stairs in the night. Paid £80 3 weeks ago for the first one. With the 20% off at babies r us they only work out at £50.

we are having a bit of trouble with feeding, LO is ff and we started out on 1st infant on sma and she just seemed to have really bad trapped wind and be in a lot of pain and so far we have tried infacol, dentinox and colief and no we are currently on by request of hv the sma comfort milk.

there hasnt been really any difference so they have recommended i now go to the doctor and ask for a prescription for a low/lactose free formula? has anyone else been through this?

and the other thing is, it just seems like constant feeding and one bottle leads into another, shes on 150ml/5 oz of formula now and will sometimes drain this in one go, other times she will have 90ml and then have the rest in a second sitting. Nothing seems to satisfy her really and when she is eating shes fighting to get the teat and guzzling it down. do you think this might be linked to the formula problem? shes putting on weight and weighed 9lb when the hv weighed her the other day.

it just seems as if a new day brings a whole new set of worries at the moment.

ds is now exclusively breastfeed but when I was giving him bottles I found he would wolf them down and squeal when it was taken away, however I think it was some caught wind as once he burped he we t back to the bottle and drank normally. It was like he was drinking to move the wind that was caught.

Ds has also suffered with trapped wind. I found the wind /. Colic relief massage 2/3 times a day very useful to lower his discomfort

Sammie, meant to say that I love the pic of Noah - he's incredibly cute! :)

Oh, and IHateDida, re.white towels - if they'd had, say, yellow or green or purple, then I'd have gone for coloured, but I refuse to play the pink & blue game! Btw, they emailed me this evening to say that the towels have been made and dispatched. That was very quick! :j

Note to self: I should not get this excited about towels. I think I need to get out more :o Speaking of which, hope MrsH2b is enjoying her night out as we speak :D

What bottles are you using? We switched to dr browns and they make a huge difference for wind. The always hungry thing could be related too 'cause apparently they might think they're hungry but are actually just wind-y and don't know it.

Silly me stopped giving Eilis her dentinox and she's been inconsolable the last few days. I honestly thought she was over her colic but clearly not. Gave her infacol tonight cause it worked quicker than the dentinox. It used to make her sick but it didn't tonight so fingers crossed we can use that - mainly cause I can get it free rather than £3 odds for dentinox (how stingy am I?)

Got her christening tomorrow so I'll post up a wee pic x

hi everyone sorry i havent posted in a while, but i have been reading and catching up on my pad, but it takes so slow to reply on there especially as i only seem to have 1 arm now to do things with LO.

i was wondering about the smile timings as well, LO will be 5 weeks this weekend and its the same with me not matter what i do or giggle to her...nothing. she seems such a serious baby, it just seems to be eating, sleeping, frowns and cries at the moment but i suppose thats normal for newborns?

It might be worth looking up silent reflux and seeing if the symptoms look familiar. DS2 has it and a lot of his early symptoms were mistaken for wind /colic. Rapid weight gain is also a silent reflux symptom (it's basically acid indegestion, so they are comfort sucking as to keep the acid down) so it might be worth mentioning to your gp. DS2's was prescribed infant gaviscon which has worked for him but there are other meds available and you can buy anti reflux milk in larger boots stores (although don't use gaviscon wit reflux milk)

ds1 really struggled with wind too but a combination of colic massage, anti-colic bottles (we used dr browns), infacol and colief worked for him until he outgrew it at around 4 months.

re smiling ds1 was a really serious baby, he barely smiled at all for the first six months but at 2.5 he's got a permanent grin on his face ds2 about 8 weeks i think

I'm so tempted by the perfect prep machine. 3 months ago I'd have snapped it up but I feel like we're past the stage of needing bottles in the middle of the night/immediately so I should just suck it up and use the kettle?
