A nice post from me for a change! LO seems to have finally worked all the gaviscon out of her system (via one of those amazingly explosive poos that necessitated half a roll of cotton wool, a laundry cycle and a bath to clear up!) and was in pretty good form today, giving us her first trip in her pram without a screaming fit - and she also reached for and successfully grabbed the baby monkey mini toy from the mummy monkey's tummy pouch - I got her to do it 3 times to make sure it wasn't a fluke!

We've also decided to be brave and book a week away in a cottage in the Yorkshire Dales before Christmas as baby's first holiday. Should only be a few hours from home should anything strange occur...

And finally my Mum's coming over in a few weeks to try to help us into a bit of a routine which will hopefully involve better nap times. She thinks I may have mollycoddled LO into only napping on me, and it will be interesting to see if she has better success at putting her down for a sleep than me!

On the reflux thing, I think we've decided to leave her be this week and see how she gets on, with the idea being that we'd both rather try weaning her at 16/17 weeks (or whatever later date she seems to be up for it) than medicating her, and certainly no more gaviscon - she only had a total of 4 half sachets (i.e. the equivalent of 2 normal doses) and she's gone from 3/4 dirty nappies a day to 1 every 2 days and a lot of discomfort.

P.S. Has anyone seen fluffnutter? She seems to be MIA and I hope all is ok with her - if it weren't for her I'd never have identified LO's tongue tie and wouldn't have been able to carry on bf this long.

I is here, my lovely, and pleased to hear about your baby's explosive arse. If the gaviscon doesn't do the trick, ask about ranitidine or omeprazole. You might not find early weaning helps, and can possibly lead to other digestive issues. Omeprazole particularly is incredibly effective at reducing acid reflex with side effects for a very few. They try gaviscon first simply because it's cheaper but it's rubbish.

Thank you - it was me! Will be a few months before I try it now as I have decided to keep on the milk for a while longer (LO is 20 weeks tomorrow!) - although she is starting to get hungrier....

Thanks for your advice - I will limit her intake (wish Quorn filled me up so much that I didn't like chocolate!!!) - I intend on making an effort with lentils too.....! But as I eat fish, she will have that too.

I really want to make LO have a different diet from my early years.....back then I guess chocolate wasn't that bad.....one of the earliest piccies of me is sitting in a highchair face covered in Jaffa cake!!!! Even today, I am addicted to them! Why oh why...is it not possible to just eat one Jaffa Cake....!!!:D

Lol, me too! I really must start making an effort to step away from the chocolate. :D We're not totally veggie, we have fish too. He loves salmon, and fish fingers. And we eat meat if someone else has made it for us, I just don't buy or cook it.

Morning ladies, been busy on here!!!!! Welcome to all the new names :D

I'd like to be able to say I've read back, but that'd be fibbing - snatching 2 mins to post is tough enough at the moment. George is waking up at 6 since the clocks changed with atleast 2 wakes in the night at the moment. Driving me mad as he's clearly tired. And grumpy - had two time outs in his cot before it even got to 6.45 this morning. Thinking I might get him his first pillow, clutching at straws that that'll make a blind bit of difference but it could be worth a try.

Anyway, we're off to try out a new soft play this morning, should hopefully exercise some of the grumps out of him.

Hope everyone has nice days :)

  • Morning everyone,

Oscar - if you don't want to go down the medication route try sma stay down milk, it made my lo constipated but did the trick for reflux. I can say from experience though reflux is hard work to control, we went between lots of different milks, although I think you breast freed don't you? Please ignore me then!

I've been at work today so was up at 5:15, tired is not the word! Los hands are freezing when he wakes up so looking for something to sort that today.

    Have a good day ladies

  • Happy Monday gang.

My cleaner is in today - I know..frivolous or what, however it is my one luxury that I could not do without..well I could, but I hate cleaning and finding the time with a baby and a toddler isn't easy!

She comes in once a fortnight and blitzes the place for us..I absolutely love her :)

Off to open up DD's ISA this morning. We have one already for DS with Nationwide so have opened another one for lil lady. My auntie very kindly gave me £100 to start her off, so off to deposit that.

DDhas been sleeping better the last week, going up to 7 hours between feeds overnight. Last night however she was back to 4 hours, so I probably shouldn't get too smug about it! She is 11 weeks today..can'tbelieve how fast time has gone and how close to Christmas we are getting

Fortunately have got DS's presents all sorted already, so it's just grown ups to do. DS turns 3 on January 14th too, so you just get Xmas out of the way and then it's more presents and more expense in early Jan when you least need it!

Hope everyone is doing ok and not too sleep deprived. I haven't had a chance to read back either!

  • Warning rant alert!

My mum has been a total PITA, ever since Rebecca was born she has been constantly texting & always wanting to come round & when she does she takes over.

But ever since they got the keys to their new house Friday she hasn't really bothered

As nice as it is not to see her that often - I'm really annoyed that the house is suddenly more important

Take yesterday - she wanted to pop to see us but because I asked her to come an hour early as it was more convenient to me she din bother as they didn't want to leave the house early & she wil come see me tomorrow only because she has a hair appointment & can see us after! (Her hair is more important!)

I know until the house is completed I won't see them that much - which is lovely but as soon as they finished with that I will be bombarded as she will have nothing else todo

    Arrrgggghhhhh

    Sorry, rant over!

I think Rebecca's growth spurt is slowly going, managed to get a couple hours sleep last night! Yay!

So jealous about the cleaner MV!

Nessie, I think we all know people like that! My in laws never come up to the house but when they did last night eilis was having a nap, by the look on their faces I was expected to go wake her, not likely!!

Is there anything more horrendous than those first immunisations? I think the anticipation of it was the worst part, and sitting in the waiting room hearing all these screaming babies come out :(

Decided to up her feeds to 7oz (11 weeks) 'cause she's draining the 6oz and crying for them more often so we'll see how it goes. Think we'll just have cuddles all day to get over the trauma.

In true bad mummy form although I was nervous about the first jabs I didn't think it was so bad - his little face went so red it was almost funny. He'd forgotten about it within..oooh..about 33 seconds anyway ;) I still had a cream scone when we got home as a treat to get over it though :D

G fell asleep on the way home from the supermarket this morning so he's snoozing away - sadly I have work to do so I'm not getting my usual Monday-first-nap-catch-up-on-last-night's-Downton. Booooo

She took it quite well, after she had her bottle when we got home she was fine. I've given her a dose of calpol and made her a wee bed on the couch to keep an eye on her 'cause she was burning up, poor wee soul.

Freddie's changing his nap schedule. On the plus side he sleeps later in the mornings, and I'm wondering if he's getting ready to drop his morning nap. On the downside it's all a bit chaotic, this transition period. I don't know whether to put him down* or not, nor can I plan very well.

Babies. You think you've got it sussed then they go and change everything.

*NB. not in a putting-a-pet-to-sleep way. That would be wrong.
