My little boy smiled properly for first time yesterday (and today)!!! I was sniffing him and being all giddy and suddenly he did this amazing smile ... and then oh, my mum and I kept being daft to him and he was smiling and smiling. Same today. .got him in his bouncer and he started smiling his head off!! So we know they are real smiles! ! Really was the best thing I've ever seen0

Welcome back delain
And YAY for smiles little Bangton! So, so exciting getting all these firsts.
A is definitely starting to decide I'm no longer trying to poison her. This evening, as I was preparing dinner to go into the over, I gave her a couple bits I'd saved for her from early and then kept an eye over her whilst preparing dinner. She watched me for a bit, then picked up some food and happily gummed away like she's been doing it for ever0 -

This evening T has just decided that I must be poisoning him... I guess it's a phase they all have to go through! Very unhappy with his carrot and baby sweetcorn (even though I think a bit slipped down), stayed in his chair until we were done ... but definitely protested. Settled for bf a few mins later (even though only fed 1.5hr ago)
I'll keep popping stuff on his tray every meal, we'll see how we go.
Good luck back on the school run Delain.
Bangton, hooray for the proper smiles

A nice post from me for a change! LO seems to have finally worked all the gaviscon out of her system (via one of those amazingly explosive poos that necessitated half a roll of cotton wool, a laundry cycle and a bath to clear up!) and was in pretty good form today, giving us her first trip in her pram without a screaming fit - and she also reached for and successfully grabbed the baby monkey mini toy from the mummy monkey's tummy pouch - I got her to do it 3 times to make sure it wasn't a fluke!
We've also decided to be brave and book a week away in a cottage in the Yorkshire Dales before Christmas as baby's first holiday. Should only be a few hours from home should anything strange occur...
And finally my Mum's coming over in a few weeks to try to help us into a bit of a routine which will hopefully involve better nap times. She thinks I may have mollycoddled LO into only napping on me, and it will be interesting to see if she has better success at putting her down for a sleep than me!
On the reflux thing, I think we've decided to leave her be this week and see how she gets on, with the idea being that we'd both rather try weaning her at 16/17 weeks (or whatever later date she seems to be up for it) than medicating her, and certainly no more gaviscon - she only had a total of 4 half sachets (i.e. the equivalent of 2 normal doses) and she's gone from 3/4 dirty nappies a day to 1 every 2 days and a lot of discomfort.
P.S. Has anyone seen fluffnutter? She seems to be MIA and I hope all is ok with her - if it weren't for her I'd never have identified LO's tongue tie and wouldn't have been able to carry on bf this long.0 -
Yay for the smiles, weaning success and grabbing monkeys!
Took Eilis on a weekend trip with 20 of my family. She did not enjoy. Think it was just over stimulation and over tiredness but I feel like she screamed at me for 2 days solid. Brought her home today and she's like a different baby - bless her! She's started making loads more noises after her last feed, we had a big (nonsense) conversation with lots of smiles, loved it! First round of immunisation tomorrow though, not looking forward to it!My Debt Free Diary

Oscar, glad things are on the up (or explosively out!). MrsH weaned quite early I think to help with feeding discomfort, she may have some advice.
Beware, your Mum may well be able to put LO down, and be a bit smug about it, that doesn't mean it will happen when she's not there. Just be glad of the help for a few days.
Claree, T struggles if he's over stimulated, best just to keep doing it every now and then, Ellis will slowly get used to it. Good luck with the jabs, make sure you've got some Calpol in, T was fine with the needles & rotavirus, but then 3-4 hrs later just cried and cried, that's when the Calpol helped.
Night all.

Must be a 'phase' lazywife
Another Q from me: I dropped the base of LO's cot today as she's pulling herself to her knees using the bars. I usually feed her to sleep (bf), then rouse her very slightly as I put her into her cot. With the base lowered, its obviously further down to her mattress and she's properly waking each time I try to put her down. Any suggestions?0 -
Saffagal, that's what used to happen every time I put Amelia down, it was a bigger drop and she always woke up. There was nothing I could do about it and she soon got used to it
Had an absolutely massive fright this afternoon. Mollie snuck by us at my Dads and managed to grab a cup of hot tea off the table. It went down her chest and arm and she was screaming so much _pale_ DH grabbed her, stripped her and put her under cold water. It didn't look bad at all thank god. She was wearing a thick denim dress with a bib on top and a long sleeved vest and all that helped protect her from the majority of it. She was still crying and a bit red as we drove her to the hospital to get her checked out.
We were seen really quickly and the nurse said its absolutely fine and there will probably be no sign of it by tomorrow. Theres no need for any cream or anything. We were so so lucky I cant believe it wasn't worse
Anyway, we got back from the hosp about 5.30 and she went down for a nap straight away as she was falling asleep on the way home. She got up and ate some tea, but not long after she threw the lot up. She was a bit pale but that may be because we had to wake her up from her nap at 6.30 because she needed tea before she went to bed at 8. We always try to put them to bed at the same time every night.
My point of all this is, I'm now worrying my head off that she was very pale and being sick. And the worse thing is the girls are staying at my Dads again tonight cos I've been doing a bit too much lifting the last couple days and its quite uncomfortable
I wish I had just brought them home with me tonight instead. At least then I could have kept popping in to check on her. My stepmum tried popping in on the girls before but their doors and floors are so noisy she just woke them up
Am I just being a worry?:j:T Gorgeous twin girls born 1st Nov 2012 :T:j0 -

Am I just being a worry?
No, it's normal to worry!
It could just be her reaction to the panic
My little brother has always had really physical reactions to stressful situations. He's fine though!Mum of several with a twisted sense of humour and a laundry obsession:o

Just been having a mammoth catch up, whoever it was mentioned Quorn, the two things to watch are, firstly it's very filling, so if they eat lots of that and have no room for other stuff, they might miss out on nutrients. Secondly, it does have salt in, so keep an eye on overall salt levels. My boy would eat it all day long
Thank you - it was me! Will be a few months before I try it now as I have decided to keep on the milk for a while longer (LO is 20 weeks tomorrow!) - although she is starting to get hungrier....
Thanks for your advice - I will limit her intake (wish Quorn filled me up so much that I didn't like chocolate!!!) - I intend on making an effort with lentils too.....! But as I eat fish, she will have that too.
I really want to make LO have a different diet from my early years.....back then I guess chocolate wasn't that bad.....one of the earliest piccies of me is sitting in a highchair face covered in Jaffa cake!!!! Even today, I am addicted to them! Why oh why...is it not possible to just eat one Jaffa Cake....!!!:D0
