Bangton, I remember telling myself during night feeds that it wouldn't last forever, you will get more sleep soon! Lo has his last set of jabs today, thank goodness, I hate taking him to get them. Lo has awful cradle cap and the shampoo is really drying his scalp so been using olive oil.Mum of 2 :j0

We've had problems with a dry scalp too - but Burts Bees bath gel (Baby Bee) seems to have helped loads - we use it all over (about a fiver from Amazon I think it was). Good luck with the jabs MM - ours are all done now thank goodness - no more for a year!
I know what you all mean about reading about peoples "issues" that ring so true with your own also! LO is currently napping on her playmat....heres hoping for a better day than yesterday!
Hope everyone has a stressfree, sunny (it is here anyway!) day!0 -
Morning ladies, how is everyone?
My monster was up 3 times in the night and up at 6.10 (a lie in for some, I know, but he's normally a 7.15 waker) so has been in grump through tiredness. Seems to have perked up a bit now.
Sunny here too, got a friend coming over and we're going out for paninis and cake. Just hope the little man behaves himself...

Morning! Not to rub your nose in it Katie but eilis slept from about half 10 'till 10. Granted she did get brought in for a cuddle at 7.30 'cause she woke up coughing.
She's still being very sicky. I stopped her dentinox (colic drops) 'cause I thought it might be them but she's still quite bad with it - but not colicky so she doesn't seem to need them anyway which is good. I'm not sure what to put it down to? I stop her bottle a few times to let her breathe/burp and if it seems like she's not drinking it I'll take it away completely so I don't think I'm giving her too much - any ideas?
Health visitor is coming this morning. Back of 11 she said. It's now half past, sigh!My Debt Free Diary

Okay so I know I moaned about her but the health visitor that has just been was the loveliest lady ever! She spoke to me like a human and not like a robot that has to do things by the book and reassured me that I'm doing really well and admitted that sometimes the system does fail people (I had a really traumatic induction/birth) and encouraged me to get answers from my consultant and not to let him fob me off lol!
Feeling a million times more positive after a difficult couple of days. Just waiting for Eilis to wake up, have a bottle, bit of a play and then I can go for my run. Never looked forward to going for a run before but needs must! I told OH last night I'd gone for a run on Monday and he was really supportive. He usually just laughs at my fitness efforts 'cause I'm a lazy moo but he was really impressed and encouraging! My Debt Free Diary

Also just wanted to add that it is 1000% normal to think to yourself 'what on earth have I done???' in those early days, particularly with a first baby.
It is such a life changing experience, and no amount of books, forums, other people's experiences etc can prepare you for it. Throw in recovery from a physical trauma (birth!) and extreme exhaustion, and it's no doubt that there are times you just feel like weeping!
I find that about week 8, things start settling down, baby starts smiling and all of a sudden things begin to fall into placeMetranil dreams of becoming a neon,You don't even take him seriously,How am I going to get to heaven?,When I'm just balanced so precariously..0 -
Hallo all
I think this is going to be a long post...
Firstly, how is everyone? I have missed posting and even reading every day.
So, firstly, welcome to all the new group members: :j Bangton, continualdiamond, IHatedida, minimuffin, tiny_courageous, MV and claree_x sorry if I've already welcomed you, but welcome again! and sorry if I've missed you
MV, your little lady is gorgeous!
Nutella, why do you have to tell me about Sainsbury's offers? On the plus side, you cannot shop online for clothing with them so as long as my car doesn't decide to take a detour... we're ok!
katiechoc hope tonight is better for you, my little one slept through last night after being up from midnight the night before BUT she made loads of noise, crying in her sleep, at 2:30, 3:30, 4 and 4:30 so I had a disturbed night anyway. Think it must be teeth moving about, poor love
IHatedida, anyone who says "sleep like a baby" has never had a baby! I also thought A would sleep... but she has always been bad at sleeping during the day. Does make me laugh how OH will be holding her and unable to dress/make a drink/basically anything other than hold her because he is holding the baby... Uh, how do you think I get dressed, make a drink, make lunch etc etc??? :rotfl:
I do think it gets easier though as they get a little older; certainly the first 10 weeks were the hardest by far (says me at just over 6months now). A will now happily sit in her high chair in the kitchen for a while and watch me get on with some jobs, I can even leave the room if we're having a game of "Peek-a-boo"!
OH and I aren't buying LO a present for Christmas; we've bought her things as and when over the past few months and she'll get pressies from grandparents, cousins and aunts and uncles.
I have found a couple of baby groups that we go to, and I've found those days easier than days when I just stay in all day as if she's being particularly fractious, going in the car/buggy and the other babies distracts her long enough for me to feel like I've had a little break if that makes sense. (It also helps with the feeling of not being alone).
Hehe Bangton, I talk to A all the time, asking her things, telling her things and if she's having a bad day I sing to herbut it helps. Someone said to me though, just be careful of asking her i she wants to do x,y or z as if I'm in the habit of doing so may have trouble once she starts talking back
Something else someone said to me, if baby is having a "bad day" and you've not eaten/drunken or gone to the toilet, put baby down in a safe place - go and make yourself a cup of tea and come back in. Even if baby is crying they are ok because they're breathing.
Thank you lazywife, my parents got home safely and all is well at theirs. So since Saturday, we've tried porridge fingers, toast, sandwich, yoghurt, banana, carrot battons, broccoli, potato wedges, sausage, sweet pepper, mashed butternut and mushrooms. She enthusiastically grabs the first couple of pieces and takes it to her mouth... then after a few seconds looks at me as though I'm trying to poison her. Mostly she'll grab fingers or chunks and suck them/mash them with her gums. With the yoghurt and butternut I gave her loaded spoons and she got them into her mouth to suck the contents off. I will say this: it is MESSY. I've decided naked meals (well, nappy on) and an old shower curtain under the high chair is the way forward for the time being. She's not actually eating too much yet, but I know she's had some as have had the evidence
What I'm not sure is when to start pushing for increasing quantities of food being eaten? Obviously its been less than a week so for the next month just concentrate on as many flavours and textures as possible?
fluff, delain and MrsH hope that you're all well too
Hehe sorry this is already long, but I've one more thing to share. On Sunday I asked OH to change and dress A in the morning. After about 5min he walks back into our room, holding a naked and wet A stating that she needs a bath, now. :rotfl: Apparently, he removed her dirty nappy and whilst wiping her, she tried to roll over and wee'd at the same time resulting in a sodden back and wet hair. :rotfl::rotfl: Poor OH, he was not best pleased. Perhaps next time he'll give her a "toy*" to distract her whilst changing her nappy haha
*nappy change toys are things like a shoe, toothbrush holder, comb etc that she doesn't usually get to play with0 -

So has my LO! BUT...today she slept for a whole hour! I felt as though I had won the lottery as a whole hour during the day has never happened before!!!! I managed to make a veggie casserole, bake some Delia's date oat slices (which were very yum!) and also make 2 apple and raspberry crumbles!:T
Plus...even better...she woke up in a really sweet mood! So we went on a 1.5 hour "tree" walk (she seems to love trees!). Its surprising the difference just an hour sleep during the day makes!
MV - OMG! She is gorgeous! I luuurve the outfit! Is it from Next? I recognise the stitching...it looks very Next (I love their sleepsuits - my LO has their 3 vintage flower sleepsuits currently).
Tomorrow is Halloween - anyone dressing their LO up? I have a pumpkin sleepsuit for my LO just to embarrass her with the pics when she is older of course!:D (I always said that I wouldn't do it to her but......!)0 -
I'm not dressing LO up tomorrow, but the music group she goes to on Friday is having a Halloween dress up party so have made her a little witches costume for that. I always said I'd never dress her up too - but, I don't want her to be the odd one out either so...0
