Morning ladies
Yay for your sleep through sunshine!
G is all over the place tbh, thanks to those that asked. Nappies are improved, still got a rattly cough. While Oh has been home over the weekend he's been like a different baby - couple of minor strops but that's it, I felt like a different person on Saturday after a day of no screaming and clinging. Back to usual today though, I thought it'd be better as my mum is staying but nope.
Also (sorry for the long post!). When he woke up this morning he had a really odd stain on his pj top, as if he'd been sick but no smell and it's discoloured the top as if its had a diluted bleach on it?! Nothing in his bed or on his skin. Ideas? I have no clue. He's not poorly, just the same whiny stroppy boy as last week. Even bile would smell wouldn't it? He refused to eat any tea last night so sick would have been fairly "light" iykwim?Newborn thread member

Dribble can discolour clothes... If he's got a cold he's probably breathing through his mouth more = more dribble! Also (tmi) he may have coughed up some phlegm in the night and that could be what's done it.
IMO they are always clingy when they are ill. That doesn't really change. sorry
Little miss has just tipped most of a packet of Quavers all over the floor... off goes I to find the hoover!Mum of several with a twisted sense of humour and a laundry obsession:o

Snot? Or phlegm?

I guess it could have been phlegm. OH and mum both said they thought they heard him be sick just before mum got him up (I was in the shower) but no sick and mum just thought the mark was part of the picture on the top. Top was wet but nothing on his chin or anything and no residue like I would have expected from coughing up phlegm. It's a puzzler.
Apart from being moany at home we took him to soft play and he had a fab time so I think he's just being a bit stroppy for thesakeof it sometimes. I'll change my mind and be convinced he's ill again in...ooh about 3minutes.
How is everyone else doing today?Newborn thread member

New mum meltdown alert!! I truly don't know what I am doing..really, I don't. I wish I could employ some sort of baby coach to show me the way. I spent yesterday in tears, refusing guests and just generally feeling low and anxious. Is this normal?!!!
So scared everything I do is wrong and for 3 nights on trot he has woke around 7pm and not slept until 2am unless dozing on me. We had a good night last night till he woke at 3.15am and stayed up till 11.15am with a couple of 40 min naps on us in between (luckily I covered 3.15 - 6.15 and OH did rest) but I feel sick when I think how long he is awake. It can't be normal surely!! Sometimes he is taking bottles, dozing and then is ready for next feed almost straight away once we have finished!
I am so rubbish! Trying to stay calm and not anxious in front of baby but I am so grateful for my OH, mum and sister as I kind of enjoy palming him off on them just to have a minute away from the anxiety of being a mum. I am trying to think it's just baby blues but not sure where to turn as I don't feel I can tell people I feel so low!!!!0 -
my husband has just said he doesn't feel comfortable bathing our son because he feels strange washing him. he said it is a man thing. Is this normal? My friends husbands seem fine with it. He changes his nappy with no problem. He seems embarrassed so don't want to question him further but this has worried me and seems a strange comment.
Meant to reply to this one. Yeah, not to worry you but I do find it a bit strange. I've had a boy and OH does everything..bathing, nappies etc. The other day OH said baby had an erection and was a bit urgh about touching his sons erection but aside from that there seems to be no problem. I know my brother baths and changes his son too. Not sure really, I guess you need to ask him further regardless of the embarrassment because it could affect his relationship going forward..I mean what about kissing his little boy etc - does he do that?0 -
Bangton, new mum meltdown perfectly normal!
How is your night time routine? We take LO up about 8-9pm (depending on his mood that day, but irrelevent of when his last feed was), do change, pjs (well, sleepsuit) and gro bag and story.. we don't do an evening bath, just not got into doing it.
We then turn down lights in lounge, tv low (if on) and do he final feed until he drifts off. His 1st sleep is the longest (iykwim) so we'll try to bed early as he may wake early morning and then never settle. Have you tried a faster flow on his bottle. Not my area of expertise as bf, but I've a friend who's LO was falling asleep on his bottle as tiring himself out feeding, but not full, so woke up hungry.
Try to get LO to nap in the day, he'll still sleep at night, but I'd say not to nap 1hr before bedtime.
You'll be fine, the fact you're worrying means you're a good mum.0 -
Hi bangton, how old is lo now? Trust me things will get easier , the early days are so tough but Before you know it he will be going longer between feeds and will fall into a routine. I craved a routine so badly in the early days when lo wasnt falling alseep until 5am. I sat up until 1 30am one night expecting him to wake for his last feed but he slept the whole night through, just all of a sudden. You are doing brilliantly, dont be hard on yourself. XMum of 2 :j0

Bangton, big hugs to you hun. Those early days are so hard, but as Minimuffin said, slowly slowly things will improve. Pretty much anything is 'normal', so try not to worry (easier said than done, I know!). My LO would only sleep on me or on OH during the first few weeks, and we just let her - then gradually she'd be happier to sleep in her basket. Having a baby turns your world upside down and nothing can prepare you for it, but things will get better and you will even start to enjoy it all
You're doing a great job x
