Saf, I honestly don't know how you do it - the longest I've stayed under the same roof as my parents since leaving home at 19 is a month. Make the most of having your house back! Re flight - 7/8 months shouldn't be too bad, she'll hopefully sleep a bit and enjoy all the cuddles; once they're walking it gets a lot harder... Re high chair - we didn't have one until we started weaning, but if she's holding her head well I'd give it a go - she'll probably enjoy watching what's going on around her!

Hi Sunshine :) I do get a little upset whenever this thread goes quiet - I always seem to have a lot to say but I already post way more than I should!

    Good night all x

Lola, we decided against one and have always changed LO on a changing mat on the bed in the spare room. I'd definitely not want to change her on a table now, given how mobile she is (16 months old) - I'd worry about her falling off. At least on the bed there's plenty of space and hence time for me to catch her! Nothing wrong with changing them on the floor either if you've got the space and no back problems!... :o

The desk was a huge corner desk and was great as everything was to hand. We have taken to changing her on the bed, but at 17 mths she rolls away and is gone. All we see is a naked baby running around!! :rotfl:

I'm 30 weeks pregnant so the floor is a bit of a no no and we were thinking a changing table would be nice for the new LO. I've done a bit more research and some are only good up to 12 mths so rubbish for DD1 others don't give an age limit so not sure if we'll bother

  • I'm so tired! I feel like I have a new born again! He's waking me around 4 times a night to put his dummy in, he goes straight back to sleep but we get to 5/6 in the morning and I end up putting him in bed knowing he"ll sleep better...... He's still asleep now!!!

Please give me reasons/solutions/support. Everyday I'm feeling dog tired! I'm bored of it

You can have support up the ying yang, my love. Or as much as I can muster having had about 45 seconds sleep in the last 14 months. But reasons? Solutions? Nah, can't help you there. Babies innit. Little buggers. Freddie wakes every night and has done since birth. Nothing's made any difference. Some sleep well, some don't and it's pure luck which flavour you get.

It will get better. In about five years.

Like Fluff says it's one of those things, until he's old enough to find his dummy again and put it back in (and that's not guaranteed sadly some babas at 18 months won't attempt to find there dummy, they'l want mummy to find it ) then you'l probably have to do it. Unless you feel comfortable taking away the dummy?

While A still had his dummy he would sometimes wake for us to put it back in, but most of the time I'd throw 5 or 6 in the cot at night for him to get if he lost his :o

Now he doesn't have a dummy but he still wakes around 4 nights a week around 5am, now all we have to do is go in and say 'you're ok, go back to sleep' and he does? So go figure :D

  • Hi Sammie, was wondering how you were :). We've never used anything for swimming but I'm planning on armband next time we go. I read somewhere that the vest things tip them forwards into a proper swimming position and I know g would hate that at the moment, he likes to be more upright in the water.

I'm full of cold and feeling very pathetic today :(. G is still coughing and sneezing but just as energetic as usual so its going to be a loooong day until Oh gets home tonight. Nap time soon then I'll have to get wrapped up and take him out this afternoon, drives me batty being indoors all day now he's so full of beans.

Side note - has anyone watched Dumbo recently? I put it on in the hopes of George sitting with me on the sofa quietly for a bit (no chance). It's horrible! Everyone was mean to him then they chained his mum up because she tried to protect him, and they've just put him at the top of a burning building while the clowns chuck water everywhere :(

Thanks for your replies regarding swimming aids. :)

It's chucking it down with rain here :( I think our summer is officially over now.

Katie - I haven't watched dumbo for years, will make sure I don't let the kids watch it if its really sad! Hope you and George feel better soon.

Noah went to see his speech and language therapist yesterday so we are now continuing to work on sign language, the looks I get when we are out........

    Hi All :)
I can't contribute to the flying discussion, but did appreciate it as we'll have either an 11hr flight, layover and 1hr flight or an 8hr flight, layover, 7hr flight when little miss is about 7/8 months old.

Is that direct then staying over in Joberg and indirect and staying over in Dubai?

I'm nervous as hell to ever fly with Charlie lol. Guess i'll have to face it one day

    Hi :)

I'm ok thanks, still plodding along! just don't get much free time with an 18month old at times!!

A questing to all the mummies with older babies, what do you use for taking little one swimming now? Noah has outgrown his sit in float thingy so not sure what o invest in next?

Hi! When Charlie swims at my brother with us, we usually give him one of those noodles to hold on to to take the weight off us holding him.
Maybe try a speedo swim seat......
