    Morning all :)

Need some advice please... I have a seven-hour flight coming up next month, with an impatient and curious 16-month-old on my lap. Sigh :o Does anyone have any ideas for toys that would fit into my hand luggage and keep her occupied for longer than ten seconds?

I've been looking at baby tablets, wondering whether to ask for one for Xmas. He'll sit with my phone for ages watching videos, and can now open the iPlayer, select CBeebies and start programs! Luckily my phone has a kids corner, but he's already got out of it once. :D

    Highchairs....

My horror just won't behave in his any more. With the tray on he would rock against it till the chair walked across the floor! :o If I take the tray off and pull him up to the table, he uses his feet to try and push either himself or the table over. If I then move him out of reach, he leans right over the edge to look at the floor. Can't take my eye off him for a second! Any ideas?
  • Mrsh2b - hope you got a little bit of rest last night? I did take Gs dummy away, like Nutella said, when he was about 10 months. It got to the point where he was waking 5-6 times a night but just messing about on the boob. So decided no more night feeds. He started going off with just his dummy rather than boob but then I was up and down all night pitting the dummy in. So we took it away and binned all that we had in the house so I couldn't break and give him one! A day and a night of controlled crying (not cry it out) and he's self settled ever since. It wasn't fun and I did feel awful but it was the best thing I could have done - he was much happier because he was sleeping properly and I felt human again. It's not for everyone, and I only did it when I knew he didn't need night feeds anymore, but it really made an amazing difference to us.

I'm feeling a bit better thanks to those who thought of us :). George isn't though, sounds like the cough has gone to his chest now. Got him under his blankie on my knee now, watching Bob the Builder.

    Morning all :)

MrsH, how was your night? Hope you got some sleep.

I'm feeling human this morning - LO slept from 7pm to 5.50am with only brief wake-ups at 11 and 4 :D

Just missed my train by 30 seconds, so now sat at the platform for 20 minutes. Boo!

Hope everyone has a good day x

ETA: Katie, glad you're feeling better this morning :)

Sadly my LO shows no interest in that kind of stuff when it's actually intended for babies! She's got a toy phone and her own remote control, but they're nowhere near as interesting as mummy and daddy's phones :o Think I'll download some apps like someone suggested. Any ideas for good ones? She's currently obsessed with Spotify and my headphones and has figured out how to scroll down the page and select a different track :)

    Cheers fluff!

Why must the songs on these toys be so annoying? My dad bought Dewi a toy plane. It's great... Except the bloody bit where it goes "everyone's on board". I swear she's completely out of tune.

Ha ha. You need to get a vtech walker. #Welcome to our learning farm. We have much to show you. Shapes and colours, music too. There's so much to do-oo!#.

Or.. another favourite. The Fisher Price cookie jar shape sorter - #shapes are in my cookie jar, triangle, heart, star!#

Someone I know takes all the batteries out.

The do-oo always makes me want to scream! :o

We've got a Leapfrog discovery house, which is fab in so many ways, but it's got a button shaped like a book that gives you a 'story'. There's one that goes 'Once upon a time there was a bowl og spaghetti that was too hot. So we waited...and waited...and waited...until the bowl of spaghetti was too cold! But the biscuits were just right'. !!!!!!?!

  • The vtech toot toot garage and associated vehicles can beat most toys to the most irritating thing ever prize! The emergency vehicles are the worst "I'm a brave police car on my way to stop the crime" and the voice...shudders. It also shouts "lets be quick to catch the burglar!" At full volume. George plays with them switched off a lot.

I've decided to not buy any more battery operated toys. Now that she's older it's wood rather than plastic all the way :)
  • Haha we have a bus "lets go to the zoo, hear the monkeys go ooh ooh ooh" zoo animal sounds, and then a miaow..... Pardon me? A cat? Lions don't miaow! Do they?

Anyway sorry for my depressing posts yesterday, I think the whole having a baby lack of sleep finally caught up with me, 6 months on. I'm feeling a lot more positive this morning.

Yesterday was my fault, I let lo get over tired in the morning because I needed to get stuff done. We bought a travel cot so he could nap there while I pottered about however because his sleep went so bad I started taking him to nap in bed so I could nap with him, problem is, he's used to me cuddling him to sleep so he doesn't want to sleep in the travel cot again! But I'm going to try and sort it, I don't think this clingyness is helping at the minute.

Anyway, everyone enjoy your day, thank you all for your support! Helps to know others have gone through it. I'm just glad I have put back the date I go back to work, was meant to be soon but don't think lo would cope!
