Sorry should have said Gracie is now 20 months old, was born in December 2011, her due date was April 2012! She is still a tiddler and far behind her peers developmentally wise but she's getting there!

My wife had a horrendous pregnancy from start to finish hence why we won't be having anymore! Poor wife was in hospital twice with sickness, then started having weekly scans due to low fluid around baby, then had eclampsia which resulted in a very emergent c-section! Gracie had open heart surgery at 5 days old, then again at 4 months old. She also suffered with problems with her stomach and bowels so had another surgery! She was in the hospital for 6 months in total. She is doing well now, though still requires oxygen at night time so we have a sats machine bleeping throughout the night! Quite alot in her short life.

We have the same problems as all other parent though, she had her first proper tantrum today whilst we nipped out for a pub lunch! We are struggling at meal times, she is independant and wants to feed herself but can't quite manage so mealtimes feel like a battle. She does sleep very well thougj so can't complain to much!

    Welcome supersaver2 :)
  • Hello everyone :)

Welcome supersaver :) lovely to have a Dad on here, sounds like your LO is a super star and a tough cookie. Its a real shame jannine isnt posting here at the moment as I am sure you would get on.

    Hope everyone is okay?

Mozzy - sorry for late reply, not sure if you are still reading but no, we have never even been reccomended a allergy test? Not sure if I should push for one really? Even when he was in hospital they only diagnosed suspected bronchilitis so it worries me that they were never certain what it was.

We took A to Chester zoo on bank hol Monday. Its a really good day out, he absolutely loved the apes and the rhinos, got some fab pics too. He was shattered when we eventually got home though and it took him a full day to recover with sleep etc.

Lost our buyers for our house so back to square one with selling, fingers crossed guys.

Hope the LOs sleep well xxxx

I asked my HV this a few weeks ago (G is almost 16months so a bit older but same should apply I think) she said they would recommend using bub's fist as a guide - so the main meal of the day would be a fist size scoop of protein and same of carbs. She didn't mention the other food groups tbh though. But she did say unless baby is putting weight on very quickly or is overweight to not restrict how much he eats (obv do restrict junk food etc). I just go with what G will eat as long as it isn't chips or the like (he'll eat chips til he pops). Not sure that really makes much sense. But I tried, right? :o

I have been given the same advice re portion sizes too. A eats really well.but just small amounts, he is a bit of a grazer lol and has days where he will eat everything I give him and days when he will eat nothing but a couple of fork fulls. My HV said not to worry unless he is losing weight/constipated etc etc and he definately isnt, so I assume the same would apply the other way round.

I tell you one thing he never refuses though, those fruit pouch things that they can just suck straight from the pouch? Ellas, plum, cow and gate etc - he would eat them all day if I let him!!

welcome supersaver! That sounds like a traumatic first few months for you all. Glad it's all looking much better now.

Whoever it was after the banana recipes, I like the BLW banana muffins but they don't keep too well and are quite dense - not sure if they're saleable IYSWIM. I've just made Nigella Express banana butterscotch muffins (but with mix of chocolate and dark chocolate chunks instead of butterscotch morsels) and they seem great!

Morning all :) (supersaver2, I remembered not to say 'ladies'!)

Sunshine, boo to losing your buyer - hope you find someone else very soon x

I've had to swap my day off this week, so I'm on my way to work whilst LO spends the day with daddy. I know she'll have lots of fun and I'll come home to chaos!

Have a good day everyone x

Morning (almost afternoon oops!) ladies, and supersaver2, welcome!

Rubbish news on your buyers sunshine, hope someone else comes along quickly. We're thinking of moving early next year but we'll be moving from Surrey to the Midlands so its more than a bit daunting trying to figure out OH getting a job, finding a house, finding a buyer for our flat etc etc etc. Don't know which we should be doing first!

Savage I agree re the BLW banana muffins are maybe not saleable but if it helps for at home I keep them in the freezer and give them a quick blast in the microwave at snack time, they go down just as well as fresh out of the oven.

Took G for a walk around some abbey ruins near us this morning, a load of blokes were there setting up for filming a new Merryl Streep film in a few weeks! Might have to go back for another nosey nearer the time

  • Afternoon All,

Hope everybody is well? We are just back from Asda, wanted to get a cheap highchair to keep at my mums and managed to get one for £27.00 so not to bad!

After yesterday's full blown tantrum she has been good as gold today, like a different baby!

We love going to the zoo Sunshine, Gracie hasn't got much of a clue yet, but me and my wife had a great time! That's got to be a massive advantage to having children, you get to go to loads of fun places! Sorry about your house buyers falling through, they do say moving house is a very stressful time but hopefully somebody else will come along soon.

Dreading next week, me and my wife are both teachers so its back to school next Thursday, I'm probably dreading it more than the pupils! :rotfl:
