Guys, how much do you feed your one year olds? I have abit of a problem as DS eats as much as or as little as you give him...he never cries for food, never seems hungry ...yet at same time you put him in his high chair and he will just eat anything you give him.
I actally wonder if I am giving him enough more then anything really as its so hard to judge when he doesn't give you any indication.People don't know what they want until you show them.0 -
kayalana he'd let you know if he wasn't getting enough!

Morning everyone!
Delain and Nutella, hope you're espresso (gosh that's a hard word to spell, can tell I've not been in work for 5 months!) superpower does the job.
T's last injections yesterday, usual happy then very sad reaction, but again he's settled now... Daddy's day off, so he's always happy. Hope you all had good BHols, off to seaside today (I'm thinking it's maybe going to be a little busy, but DH needs to pop into work there, so we'll get some fresh sea air whilst we're there).
Any one got any cheap, good recipe for banana cake / cupcake etc? Doesn't have to be toddler friendly, it's for the local fair cake stall, but got 3 bags of bananas in MrT for 10p each, so thought I'd bake with them.

Haven't tried myself, but I was looking at these the other day as I had some super ripe bananas. DH threw them in the composting so I didn't want to fish them out so didn't bother in the end! http://realfood.tesco.com/recipes/banana-cupcakes.htmlGot married 13/11/10

I asked my HV this a few weeks ago (G is almost 16months so a bit older but same should apply I think) she said they would recommend using bub's fist as a guide - so the main meal of the day would be a fist size scoop of protein and same of carbs. She didn't mention the other food groups tbh though. But she did say unless baby is putting weight on very quickly or is overweight to not restrict how much he eats (obv do restrict junk food etc). I just go with what G will eat as long as it isn't chips or the like (he'll eat chips til he pops). Not sure that really makes much sense. But I tried, right?Newborn thread member

My LO is 17 mths old and she is similar, she won't really ask for food, but if she sees it she wants it. If I'm eating or DH is eating she wants some regardless of what it is, she had raw red onion the other day. I told her she wouldn't like it and it's like she knew what I was saying and wanted to prove me wrong as she ate it!!
She does steal food as she knows I keep snacks in the changing bag, so if I leave it on the floor she raids it. I've found her eating biscotti and these things I buy - they are like wotsits, but they are made out of peanut.
I've been monitoring her weight- not really closely just weighing her occasionally and she's 75% for weight and 75% for height and she's been about the same for the last year of so. There are certain foods she will eat all day long and others she just has a few mouthfuls so I just let her decide. As long as she's eaten a decent amount, I always use the fist as an indicator, but it does sometimes depend on if she's had a big brekkie/lunch.Got married 13/11/10

Hello Ladies,
I've been reading this thread this afternoon and hoping I can join you all? I'm a Daddy to a little angel called Gracie, she is mine and my lovely wife's first and only baby. A little background, Gracie was born at 24 weeks following extreme pre-eclampsia which turned into eclampsia, my poor wife starting fitting in the night and I called an ambulance, Gracie was born that night and was extremely poorly, as was my wife. After 6 months in hospital we all came home together, my daughter has many complications and long term heath problems but we manage and she is a proper ray of sunshine.
Me and my wife have both gone part time at work and each spend time in the week looking after her. My Mum helps as well, we are lucky to have great family help.
I've read lots of advice on here that has been very useful so if you don't mind me sticking around and I'll help if I can (or ask the wife to help!). I'm sure I'll be asking for more advice than I give though!0 -
Sorry to just drop in again, actally cried on way home from picking DS up from my Mum's. He has only just turned 1 last week and took his first step round my Mums today.
Don't know why it bothers me so much but I just was so looking forward to it and really wanted to be their (I guess being 34 weeks pregnat and hormonal probally contributed.)

Hi Supersaver2 & welcome.
Hospital for 6 months! Wow, sounds like a traumatic pregnancy / birth / first few days for LO, your wife and you! Glad Gracie is the light of your life, looking forward to having a blokes point of view.x0
