Thank you Gilly and Bamama for your advice - we had a successful feed this morning via the shields - yehayyy!:j Although I had to keep tapping her bum and massaging her hand to wake her up!!! Se is now chilling on the duvet next to me so she must have got her fill otherwise she would be screaming her face off!

Will try to stick to breast alone although I am planning on OH doing a few night shifts so I think pump will have to come out every now and then. Will try putting her directly on the nipple in a few days - I was in tears last night (again!) as I felt hopeless at the whole breastfeeding lark - but feel much more positive this morning - a good (ish!) sleep helps no end. Thank you folks for the reassurance and advice x

No problem. It's why we're here :) congrats on the successful feed! I used to have to nudge and poke Dewi to keep him feeding lol!

Fab news on the successful feed IHateDida! Things usually do seem better in the morning after a half decent sleep. And re her falling asleep, I had that with my monster and he was straight on the boob, no shields. They just get too comfy and cosy being all cuddled up! I tried tickling his feet, stroking his face, taking his legs out of his sleep suit, blowing on his face...

We're going away this afternoon, couple of nights at the mils then up to North Yorkshire for a week with my mum by the seaside! So I should really be packing and doing useful stuff rather than sitting on the iPad. And wishing we'd got around to fixing the air con in the car, its been broken for ages but its just typical we've got such a lot of driving to do on the hottest weekend of the year!

    Hi all

Yey for good feeding IHD xxx

If anyone is interested, home bargains have boxes of pampers active fit for 7.99.

Aidens napping so I am making our food shop list. Decided to start a week on slimming world, theres a free 7 day menu online so will see how I get on with it. Looks nice though!

Off to town and the park when A wakes I think.

Have a lovely break katie :) think we may take A for a last minute holiday in Sept/Oct, would be nice to get away.

Welcome IHateDida and snozberry and congratulations on the safe arrival of your little ones.

Re breastfeeding, IHateDida firstly well done for the hard work you've put in thus far. The early weeks are HARD but it does get easier. I promise. A is 10 weeks now and I'd say from 6 weeks it was a little easier, from 8 weeks easier still. I also used shields for a while as we struggled to latch once my milk arrived and she really damaged my nipples so I used them whilst we relearnt latch and my nipples healed.

Around 2weeks A started cluster feeding in the afternoon/evening and we did this for a few weeks... Feeding almost constantly for hours. A's worst was 2pm till 11pm. Ouch! And exhausting but totally normal and necessary to build your supply. Again, it does get easier and quicker. Currently an average feed is about 25min, and roughly 2-3hrly though she can go longer especially if I'm out. I totally agree with getting a good box set or book, having a stash of cookies and drinks in reach and get comfy to feed.

A scoots herself round and up whilst laying on her back so am sure its only a matter of time before she falls off something. Since her jabs last Tues she's been waking every hour and a half at night. I'm exhausted. My oh who sleeps all night, came out with a gem the other evening: why are you complaining? Its not like you have to go to work 5 days a week. Grrr I had a major sense of humour failure at that!

Hope we're all having a lovely sunny day

Ooh! So excited! A had a 2hr nap this morning, in her basket, so I managed to do the second coat of paint in the hall, clean up after and have a nap before she woke :D
And I'm so happy A slept in her basket! She's not done that in the day since she was three weeks old :)

Sorry I haven't had chance to catch up yet, I have an extremely tired and teething child!

Does anyone have one of these:
    http://www.amazon.co.uk/Fisher-Price-Infant-to-Toddler-Rocker-Pink-Bunnies/dp/B00AXX7480/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1373021904&sr=8-1&keywords=Fisher-Price+Infant+to+Toddler+Rocker+Bunnies

Are they any good? I can't quite figure out how they work, I just need something to sit little babs in now she is 6 months old. Bumbo type things didnt work.

I've the previous version of that chair (http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B004MY51CC) Moneypenny. It works as a rocker which A can rock herself. If you pull the stand leg forward it lies it back a bit more and makes it static. I used it like that initially for her to lie in when I needed a loo break. The straps to hold baby in get pushed through the seat and fasten round the back and out the way when they're older. There is also a strap at the back of the seat at the top that adjusts to push the backrest forward when lo is older. Not sure I've explained it very well, but A loves it and it seems comfy for her, and the seat fabric can go in the washing machine.
