Sounds like a lovely day Nutella! Beware of the inflatable ball though - George goes utterly crackers when he gets his out, holds in front of him and runs full pelt when he can't see a thing. He's limited to having it in very short bursts now ;)

Eek Cake sounds scary, sure she'll be fine though. They're resilient little things!

I love how the model for that hands free pump is casually putting on make up in the bathroom. I didn't put proper make up on for about the first 4 months!

Although no doubt very practical... anything that works at this stage, I'm all for.x

Thanks for the warning :o My LO is generally very cautious and careful and (touch wood!) has never hurt herself, and I'm not going to let her use it indoors, so fingers crossed! But if she too goes crackers, then at least it was only £2.50... :)

I'm glad you all like my new item of clothing....!:D:D:D

Still haven't tried it - but I have had success with the nipple shields - not the one the horrible breastfeeding woman recommended (she told me the only ones that would work would be the Medela ones - which keep dropping off!!!) - the MAM ones are definitely the best (and half the price!) and LO has been getting milk from them finally - wooohooo! :jHave been topping up with a bit of expressed stuff in a Tommee Tippee bottle and she seems to happily interchange between the two!

So much for the "recommended" - "you need to use a cup otherwise she will never go to the breast" advice - that has caused more stress!

Just one question - how do you know how long to leave a nearly 2 week year old baby on a nipple shielded breast? It seemed as though she would go on forever so I gave her some expressed bottle in the end....! (which was probably wrong but theres only so much patience one can have!!!)

Anyway...the main thing is I am going to have a celebratory cup burning session later on....!!!

Oh my god I feel so guilty. Amelia fell off our bed this morning :( She's fine, she cried for a couple of minutes and was then playing with Mollie and laughing as normal. Gave me the biggest fright of my life.

I cant stop thinking about how bad it could have been. I feel terrible :(

There's not a mark on her, no bruise or bump. Couldn't see from where I was how she landed

Definitely wont be turning my back for a second in the future

Did exactly the same, Cake. The vet phoned, I went out of the room to grab the phone, one loud thud and a shriek and I ran in to find Freddie lying on his back by the bed looking indignant. Makes your heart stop doesn't it, but we've all done it. Well, perhaps not all of us. I said the same to my mum and she haughtily told me that she'd never let me or my brother fall off the bed :D

He's a smurf :p I think it's the angle of the picture, put it this way, my OH put a pair of shorts on him yesterday, but didn't even realise they were shorts as they were at his ankles :o

He is very grown up in the face now though, completely lost his baby face!

Edit: his body is very long in comparison to his legs too, but still small! x

Me too :o my LO was only 3 weeks when she managed to fall off the bed. Still not sure how as she's now nearly 7 months and has only ever rolled twice but managed to get off a super kingsize bed and land on the floor :o felt terrible but she's fine :D

Hello newbies :waves: hello old timers :waves: :D

Sorry just realised my phone randomly picked a quote from gilly rather than the one I picked about falling off beds. Sorry

I'd like to step in and defend the Medela shields. 15 weeks, lick em and stick em! Sorted :) but ofc I understand personal preference. Glad you've got something that works :) In terms of how long to allow them to feed, well... As long as they are feeding! People used to talk to me about things like 20-30 min is normal. And we used to have 45min (in the early days). They can get very lazy at sucking with shields and I'm sure it must be a slower delivery or something. She'll let you know if she's hungry so I'd personally be dropping the top-ups completely. This is what they did with us once we had fed for more than 15 continuous minutes. It'll regulate your supply more and save the faff of needing to express.

One last thing, pleeeeaaase don't use the shields long term. Keep trying feeds without. Alternating feeding with/without... It's really not easy to teach them a good latch once they (and you, sorry to say) get used to the ease of the shields.

What Bamama said, she could feed for any length of time. Get a box set you like the look of, feet up and give her free access to the booby xx

Edit: agree again with the lady above, as soon as you feel she is taking milk from the breast, even via the shields, to regulate your supply it'd be better not to top up, if you can.

Thanks ladies. I see I am not alone and strangely that makes me feel a bit better! Still feel guilty but lesson learned

The girls are staying out tonight. They went to Granny's for a picnic earlier and are staying overnight. I cant wait til they are back so I can have a rest! I've been doing lots today while I could and I am absolutely shattered haha

Only just finished and having a nice tall glass of rum and coke. Heaven
