Value beans/pulses etc are not an issue at all, I grew up on them I'm pretty sure but value meat, eggs, tuna etc aren't things I would ever eat myself or give to bubs - i think the veggie route might be the compromise I can accept and be happy with thanks nutella. I think it is really the milk, eggs and meat that is my biggest concern and I could always provide my own milk and ask them not to feed her meat or eggs. Such a simple solution but I'd never have thought of it lol.
Breakfast is cereal/toast so if I bring a bottle of organic milk that's not an issue, snacks are fruit/crackers etc so I can cope with that so it's just lunch and i'm sure she'll survive being a veggie 3 lunch times a week lol.0 -
A packed lunch would be my preferred option but on those 3 days my oh will be sorting out her dinner as I won't be home till 6:30ish so 1 hot meal a day that contains veg would be preferable as I can't guarantee he'll be managing much more then meat/cheese/salad as he pretty much lives on protein and making him understand others can't/don't want to has fallen on deaf ears our entire relationship although maybe he'll surprise me or I could utilise the slow cooker, hmmmm maybe it could work!0
-
How about giving her left overs? That's a brilliant idea actually
the days you're at work use the slow cooker and make some extra, package it up and all the Childminder would have to do would be re-heat
The frontier is never somewhere else. And no stockades can keep the midnight out.0 -
...Or go with the childminder veggie option and do packed lunch for dinner. I batch cook for LO and freeze in portion-sized tubs, so all OH has to do is defrost
I think once you get into a routine, things will fall into place and you'll figure out what works for you.

Thank you so much ladies, I feel so much better about it already and the ideas/suggestions have been fantastic! I knew you would all be much more helpful then my oh and his 'you're being a snob, get over it' annoying rhetoric!
Think the veggie option at nursery and 'packed lunch' for home will fit in perfectly with what I ideally want and will also mean my oh can have dinner ready for me when I get home too which will be a novelty0 -
Well hellp ladiess

Gosh, its been quiet here lately, hasnt it?!
Stairgates, we only have one atm, we have doors with high handles in the lounge so he cant get to the bottom of the stairs, and he hasnt really caused me much trouble in the kitchen - bet I have jinxed that now though! Just the one at the top of the stairs for us.
Re the food issue - I wouldnt be happy with nuggets everyday either. Aiden goes to nursery 3 days a week and I am really pleased with the meals there, they have a cook in house and do some lovely food, today he had lamb chilli with steamed rice and sweet potato wedges and some steamed pear and apple with ice cream for pud! Lucky boy
I tend to agree with Katie and Gilly, I am certainly not against value ranges at all especially as we try and keep to a budget on our shop.
We buy value tinned tommies, kidney beans, rich tea biscuits, rice, pasta and some frozen veg. I've also noticed when I am buying bits for Aiden that value is less salty and sugary, he likes salmon paste and the value one for about 39p has something like 62% salmon, 20% haddock and breadcrumbs etc....the Princes one has something like 40% salmon and a load of salt and flavourings....
I would second the idea of sending LO with a meal there. I do this on a Thursday as my MIL has Aiden, so I pot him up leftover roast dinners, caserole, lasagne, spag bols etc and just defrost one for MIL to heat up. Then when I get him home about 5ish, instead of a cooked tea he just has something like crackers, sandwich, small jacket potato, teacake etc. Otherwise, if I left it to my MIL to prepare him a meal - with greatest respect, god knows what he would eat! She is quite into microwave meals
All is well here, Aidens first sports day at nursery next Tuesday :T hope he wins something :P also had to get his feet measured again, gone up half a size in 10 weeks....not cheap kitting him out in shoes!! Went for some sandals and some shoes, luckily they were in the sale this time.
Just ordering him some new clothes off h&m...he has sooo many clothes, but a lot of them are still a bt too big in the 12-18months so struggling for summer bits really. Hoping nobody notices if his shorts look more like ankle grazers:D

Mot today for my car, lo second jabs and drs appointment to try and sort his reflux! Exciting!
Enjoy your day ladiesNewly Married, not a 2b anymore!! Mum to two wonderful boys!0 -
Hallo ladies
So today, we're starting our "Baby and You" course - I'm looking forward to it but am also a little apprehensive as I'm not doing it at my local children's centre but one a little further away. My local centre isn't running a course again until September so joining this centre's one instead.
We got our appt for her first jabs through - next Tuesday afternoon. The hospital also rang yesterday to change our hip scan from this Thursday to Friday afternoon as they don't have any staff on Thursday. Aaahhh!!! I'd arranged to visit my MIL on Thurs after the scan so now have to make two trips over that way this week. (And no, can't change and see MIL on Friday instead because of the time of the appt, we'd get stuck for ages sitting in queues of traffic.) I am a little annoyed about it.
LO has slept a little better the past two nights - go A! What's the bet I just jinxed it.
Good luck for your MOT and LO's jabs today Mrshaworth2b
Hope that you all have a lovely day

Sorry I've been so quiet ladies. I've completely lost my oomph the last few days. I've even caught myself randomly crying
I'm hoping it's just down to the hormones and a bit of stress
Dewi is getting christened this Sunday and my aunt and mother are driving me mental!

Aww, hope you're feeling better soon hun x
I've amused myself and annoyed my mum so much at the same time she hasn't called in over a week (and she usually calls twice a day!) after yet another lecture about having my lil miss baptised NOW when I'm in no rush and my best friend is in Oz till January so no way it's happening before she's back as she's god mother by informing her we're going to raise Shay as a Rastafarian like her dad0
