Try these beauties from oh mum
Give him baby ribena from day one (because hell be thirsty from all that milk)
When I rock him to sleep and he cries because he likes to fight the nap I get told " he doesn't like being held like that" (because of course I wouldn't know how my son likes to be held)
She sends my oh texts on hot/cold days telling him (I.e me) what layers to put on
Instead of saying hello to me one day the first thing she said was he should have a hat on
Gr!
No Banama not married yet, hopefully next couple of years! (If I get my way there will be another baby) hahahaNewly Married, not a 2b anymore!! Mum to two wonderful boys!0 -

I was a teenage mum... You can't begin to imagine the 'advice'!
I don't get so much now though. People probably run away when they see us coming :rotfl:Mum of several with a twisted sense of humour and a laundry obsession:o

I'm starving at midday too! I always get upset when colleagues send me lunch invites for 1pm - that means I won't get food until 1.30!0 -
Heck, I have breakfast at 8, snack at half 9 and want my lunch by 11!
It annoys me that people just assume having boob means he's eating all the time instead of drinking
Lol was just wondering if I could drop the 2b off your nameyour MIL sounds like a right muppet!

I think she is still living in the days of her being a new mum 29yrs ago, she didn't even know that babies have to be in car seats! She just doesn't have a clue sometimes, which worries me as she is meant to be looking after lo when I go back to work. I'm sure by then though ill have trained her on how to look after him lolNewly Married, not a 2b anymore!! Mum to two wonderful boys!0 -
Mine lives in Africa and doesn't speak English
Haha, mines in Canada and I just ignore her
A few of my inlaws helpful tips:
The back of her head isn't flat so I don't lie her flat enough and as a result I'll have weakened her spine.
I should 'stretch' her limbs - by actually dangling her holding onto an arm or leg.
First urine of the day on a cloth and wiped round her mouth would've sorted her thrush, I'll make her ill giving her medication so young.
I should try her on condensed milk as she doesn't like formula.
I just agree all the while I'm talking to any of his family and then just carry on on my way but understand them being in other countries makes that a lot easier to do!0 -
Hi Ladies,
Hope all are ok, can't believe how rubbish the weather has turned!
Think I'm quite lucky with advice, my Mum never tells me what to do and my MIL passed away when my hubby was 17. Some relatives try and give me tips and 'helpful advice' but Poppy does things so differently from other babies and has different needs so no advice is relevant to me really! In my friendship group at the moment there are 4 pregnant ladies who ask me for advice, I give them tips but mainly tell them to do what they think is best!:heart2: Newborn Thread Member :heart2:

Hallo ladies
GP just said c-sec wounds can take time... Its almost 7 weeks! It should definitely be healed by now. Anyway, prescribed a medicated cream and antibiotic and its looking less angry today already. He asked if it hurts, no, but I still have a lot of numbness in the area so that could be why.
My mom is in SA but we Skype often. I get a lot of comments that A should be sleeping through already because my sister did, and its not normal to feed more than a half hour every three hours. Its easy to ignore at present, but will be more difficult once they're visiting. My mil (who has raised 14) has been supportive, not questioned anything I do nor offered any advice either. When we see her she just coos over how lovely A is, how happy she seems and how strong she is. I think my mil might be almost the perfect mil. (Almost as every time we see her she's bought A a few new outfits, often in pink, which I hate)
I'm taking A to DH's work in a bit to meet his colleagues. Am crossing fingers she's up for cuddles and smiles nicely whilst we're there.
Have a good day ladies

I've gotten quite good at stopping advice I just say "we are not doing that, we are doing this" and the conversation usually changes there, or I explain in detail why I am doing it, so at the end of the half an hour explanation (sometimes in circles) they know better than suggest anything else again, lol. At first my DH was saying that she had experience and so on, but tbh, as I told him then, that experience is way out of date, having babies three decades ago does not mean she knows best, the official advice has changed in many ways and all for a reason.
My lo has a crying day, no idea what's going on.Quit smoking *1st January 2010*

Just received an e-mail from Babies R Us - they're having a summer sale with all sorts of stuff reduced to up to half price. Worth a look if you need anything (although we can always find something we 'need', can't we?...)0
