  • Well after feeding at 7, 9, 11, 1, 3, 5 & 7 in the day and taking a 7oz bottle from Daddy at 10pm, LO just woke at 4.30 overnight. Amazing how much less tired I feel today as a result.

Also, little tip I've just discovered if you use a cold water steriliser: Before you thow the sterilising solution out, you can use it for cleaning (it's just very dilute bleach). I've cleaned half my kitchen this morning with it - I had to stop because I ran out of cloths but my sink looks so lovely and shiny now.

Ohh i am sorry many of of you ( us) are having problems with babies waking up at night and of course, everyone wanting to give solutions. My Jade is sleeping yet another day in her swing. I had time to clean a bit my house and have breakfast, in the downside i have a cold and feel very weak and i am guessing she is getting it too.

I find that after one of her feedings in the morning and in the night, she empty both breasts and then cry very loudly because she is hungry and wants more, i had to give her a bottle yesterday in the morning and another at night ( i give this one because i take a pill and can not BF for 3 hs) She is more content.

What have you got plan for today ? My plans are to drink lots of orange juice, sitting in the coach, watch tv and feed baby and hopefully get some sleep.

Thanks BWP. I guessed I'd be safe to express in the mornings. I didn't over do it the morning but... after putting him on the fuller boob (he fed for 20 min) I expressed from the same side and got 2.5oz.

He slept from 8pm-5.30am. Much to my surprise he is now napping!

Moneypenny, I think I have a sealed new medela tube replacement. If you send me your details, I'll email it to you.

Morocha, that's great news. Make sure you read the instructions of Dr Brown's bottles, as they are slightly different. I have been using them for months and they are great. Do not put water that it's too hot or it will leak because of the vent system. I put recently boiled water once and within seconds half of the water was on the worktop. Also, these bottles cannot be shaken, the formula has to be stirred. Very James Bond lol.

I haven't tried a swing, I'd love to see if she could sleep there. At the moment she won't fall asleep anywhere but in the sling, except during the night. We had a great one, btw, went down at 10pm for the night (after sleeping only half an hour at 8pm and crying of tiredness afterwards), woke up at 3am and again at 8am for the day.

My HV and GP said not to introduce solids until she's 6months, and continue with formula as well. Hungry milk has the same ingredients and calories, but it's thicker and makes them feel full for longer. At least that's what my mw said. Therefore, it's not recommended unless you want to delay solids and your lo asks for food despite eating enough ounces.

Oh I meant to say... morocha, careful with the orange juice. It can make breastmilk quite acidic and cause a sore bum for babies.

We started weaning at 5 months in an attempt to improve his sleeping. Although we did have a very short lived period of slightly better sleep (ie 2-3 wake ups rather than 5-6) it quickly reverted to how it was and the only thing that has made any type of difference is stopping night feeds and doing controlled crying. And we only did that since Christmas once he was 8 months and we were happy that he was eating enough solids during the day. So weaning is definitely not a fix all for broken sleep, much the same as the myth of formula fed babies sleeping through from the word go. Sorry!

The small one has taken a major dislike to having his nappy changed recently. He goes completely barmy and thrashes around non stop - this morning he managed to flip himself over and make a run (crawl) for it with a mucky bum. Little blighter.

Just put someone down for her nap, heard a thunk... she'd rolled over, got the lid off the toybox and was happily helping herself.

thanks for that bamama, i was starting on my second glass.
Marta, you should try a swing before buying one, they are expensive but for me they have been the best buy so far.
Jade is very sleepy, she was sneezing a bit last night, i wonder if she is getting my cold and thats why she wants to sleep, seem a bit unhappy, a different crying like shes unconfortable but she has not got a fever. /calpol is intended for babies from 8 weeks +, what can i give to a 5 weeks old if develops a fever?

Aldi baby event starts today btw... stairgates for £14 and stuff from what my mum was saying - plus they seem to have a lot of things like plates and cups and feeding stuff in there.

Afternoon everyone :) I hope everyone is well & enjoying the sunshine, despite the chilly temperature. I'm finding all this breastfeeding/expressing talk quite helpful & the tip about orange juice was particularly useful as I've been drinking more of it than usual & George seems a little more colic-y than normal so I'm wondering if that could be the issue.

George seems to have slept a lot today so I have a feeling we may pay for it later! Daddy had his first day back at work yesterday which was weird but we got on ok, even made it to the hospital on time for my appointment! Today he is on a 3-finish at work so we don't know what time he'll be getting home but hopefully we get on as well as we did yesterday :)

I've just been into town to pick up a medela swing breast pump. My local boots had a BN one in a sealed box for £75 that'd been reduced for some unknown reason & I get 10% off with my discount card plus the advantage points :) I figured its a bit of a bargain as I'm breastfeeding but when George is 4-5wks old we're hoping for OH to be able to give bottles sometimes & to be able to express for when we got out but leave him with someone, as well as me expressing when I go back to work. It seems to be the pump of choice & I've not really heard anything negative about it. I have a manual pump as well but it's hard work & I've not managed to express as the same time as feeding which everyone seems to view as most successful, especially considering George normally only feeds off one side at each feed otherwise he seems to end up being sick from eating too much :( Anyone got any tips or opinions for me?

Right. Off to grab a drink whilst George is snoozing although we all know once I sit down with a drink he'll wake up :)
