I agree with the others - at 9 months he's just exploring, and anything and everything is going to end up in his mouth. And, let's face it, if you'd just started getting teeth, wouldn't you too want to figure out what to do with them?
To me, the childminder's reaction would confirm that she's not 'the one' - if she's shocked by something so trivial, I'd wonder what other strange views and attitudes she might have...
Agreed were not going with her, she 'didnt get on with travel cots' so has prams she only uses for children to go to sleep in during the day..my LO likes to move around and get comfi wouldn't be able to do that in a pram plus she had no crawling space as it was just full of toys!! If he was 6months older he probally would of loved it but all he needs is space to keep him happy. :rotfl:People don't know what they want until you show them.0 -
Peanut - 5 and a half months here and we don't have naps at all so i think every baby is different. She'll sleep if we're in the car for longer then 5 minutes but wakes up as soon as the engine is turned off, is too expensive to have nap time drives so I've just accepted she won't have them after trying everything else I could think of or had recommended.
marta - shay sleeps with one arm above her head and the other across her face, its even her default position when she's feeding too and it is very cute!
Hope Noah's coping ok and the pox are subsiding! And glad the mmr jab was ok nutella x
Bamama - hope things are ok now!
We'll we have a new favourite past time here and it consists of punching herself repeatedly in the face and laughing hysterically when either I or her dad try to stop her - crazy kid!
Hope everyone is well, going back for a more indepth catch up.0 -
Glad the mmr wasn't too bad Nutella. Hope she doesn't have any ill effects from it. I need to get G booked in for his but we're on hols next week so didnt want to risk him being poorly when we're away.
Can't remember who was asking about controlled crying but we did it, but only once he was eating a fair amount of solids and I was absolutely sure he wasn't waking up for feeds (breast fed and was just fussing on the boob every time he woke up). He was 8.5 months. Personally I think pre 6months is pushing it for CC, as someone else mentioned you could try the baby whisperer or I have a copy of Andrea Grace's Gentle Sleep Solutions book I could stick in the post to you (no money involved, I got it from Oxfam for about 20p and its just sat on the shelf now, better someone was getting some use from it!) PM me if you'd like it
Afm, we went swimming this morning which was fun -stupidly thought normal mascara would be ok as I wouldn't be properly swimming. Forgot that his favourite pastime is splashing me in the face. Plus he slept for 2 hours when we got homeNewborn thread member

Peanut, mine is 5 months old and she's been napping 3-4 times a day for 40 min each time, she sleeps every couple of hours awake more or less but we have to help her, she never just fell asleep unless in the pram or the carrier.
DayDreamBeliever, that's cute lol. V started to cover her eyes really early, with the back of her hands. Once she managed to sleep on her side, she turns to avoid the window and put her arms over her eyes. We have black out curtains and at night she's fine sleeping on her back or facing the window but during the day she won't have it. And if she's in the pram she either pulls the cosy toes hood down to give her more shadow or would put the hands up and cover her face.
Health visitor gave me some children books and we talked about food, warning, sleeping and dummies. I need to buy the highchair, I cannot wait!!Quit smoking *1st January 2010*

I was told to look at totals, since mine does not sleep the textbook 3h during the day. O think it's between 12-14h for a 4-5 month old.Quit smoking *1st January 2010*

Hullo all
It's been a while since we've posted so theres plenty to read back through! I hope everyone is doing well. We were away over the weekend which was nice although it was harder to pack for George than it was us!
We've had an interesting couple of days & we've got into wrapping as opposed to a baby carrierit's so comfortable & the wraps are so pretty!
One thing we're struggling with is wind. I say us, I mean GeorgeHe seems to have really bad trapped wind at the bottom end & it's making him so uncomfortable
He's crying like he's in pain, writhing & it only seems to be relieved with the stinkiest of trumps! We've tried infacol & gripe water , both of which work sometimes. We thought it was reflux as he was being sick & fussing with feeds, the GP agreed, but I think it's more related to the wind
Any ideas anyone?

That's interesting because Freddie's never been much of a napper but he does sleep over 12 hours at night (6pm - 6.30am with a couple of short wakenings). So if you add his night time sleep to his naps it probably works out about 14 hours, perhaps more. And he's 10 months so I assume he needs less. mrs_B is he on breast or bottle? If it's breast, I believe some things you eat can give them gas; if it's bottle maybe another brand would be better?0

Oh my gosh, i am sorry for just jumping in after not posting for ages but i am going insane and need reassurance that this is just a phase...S can now crawl, pull herself up and walk along furniture and her favourite time to do this nap/bed time. For the past 2 weeks it has taken well over an hour to get her to sleep as she goes down sleepy but then wakes, stands and screams. She gets put back down, told its sleepy time, calmed down and door shut but just does it over and over until eventually she goes to sleep after patting and ssshhing. This is a phase right? Does anyone have any tips or coping mechanisms?!0
