Freddie bites stuff. He bites his bears and looks really excited when he's doing it. He doesn't bite me because I'm not stupid enough to put my fingers in his mouth.

At 9 months, your little one has no idea that he's doing something 'wrong' - he's just exploring and at that age, their mouths are central to development.

You could say 'no' firmly so that he starts to get the idea but I wouldn't get stressed about it. People freak about biting but it's really normal. Just got to deal with it appropriately but that depends on why they're biting. At 9 months, he's just exploring, not trying to hurt anyone.

My 17 month old will sometimes do it so it's not outside of 'normal'!

Sorry I haven't been on much ladies, have been very busy and also totally sucked into the DT books... It's been about a month and I'm on book 7 currently.

Weather here today is shocking and there are major roadworks going on that are causing big delays everywhere so lots of walking for us :(

Poor noah with all those chickenpox :(

Hugs to those of you with reflux issues, I have no advice though.

My 2 minimonsters have emptied the whole toybox and are happily playing in the carnage. Ho hum :o

Thanks. I don't know why but its just the way she looked at me like it was disgraceful he'd done it.. and for saying this woman has had 10 years experience childminding I was abit shaken up at first.

Nvm hey ! I just sometimes know we can be abit to easy on our own kids and don't see things as a problem if that makes sense? My sisters DD is 5 and has started causing trouble at school but my sister refuses to belive its her DD doing anything wrong & doesnt punish her (stuff like she got caught putting sand down another girls back and when I asked sisters DD she said it was to make her friends laugh... -.- )

Delain - My OH was decorating yday and put DS in a box...it looked a little cruel at first but since he is just able to sit up by himself he loved it as it was the perfect size for him to sit up and not fall over if that makes sense? Bless him.

I heard something about biting on the radio the other day, but that was for older kids. Basically they will do it, if they do it when they are older and old enough to understand it's often for attention or because they've been "provoked" (the other kid has done something they find offensive somehow), but at 9 months he has no idea really. For older kids the solution is to give the bitee lots of attention and ignore the biter, and then discuss later why they felt threatened / ignored and bit and explain that's not right.

Ok guys when your LOs where 4 months how much did they nap? I've got a constantly cranky boy and I'm wondering if he's over tired?

He wakes about 7.30 in the morning and normally goes back down about an hour later for 45 minutes. But that's really it and he's just constantly cranky!! By 5pm he's so upset!!

How many naps do you get?

I agree with the others - at 9 months he's just exploring, and anything and everything is going to end up in his mouth. And, let's face it, if you'd just started getting teeth, wouldn't you too want to figure out what to do with them? :D To me, the childminder's reaction would confirm that she's not 'the one' - if she's shocked by something so trivial, I'd wonder what other strange views and attitudes she might have... :o

At that age we'd have 3 naps - one long one in the afternoon of 2-3 hours and two short ones that would usually be 25 minutes long.

Do you try to put him down for a nap when you notice that he seems tired? Does he rub his eyes or yawn? Although this is clearly one of those 'every baby is different' cases (as Fluff will tell you, some babies don't do naps!), if he seems tired, then maybe he'd benefit from more naps.

Thanks hun. It wasn't too bad - she cried, but only for a few seconds. We then succeeded in distracting her with the Lettersaurus and happiness was restored :)
