Elelyn, I am 36 and hubby is 43 so pretty similar to you. I think there are benefits to having one too. Although I agree I may change my mind in a year...... that will mean we will have to re mortgage though!0

I think it's difficult to make a decision on another baby especially when they're so little and dependent, for me the first 6 weeks were hell and if you'd asked me then if Id have another id probably have sewn myself up
but I think as it gets easier the broodiness creeps in

Hi Ladies,
Hope all had a nice day, I've been hectic at work but the day whizzed by so not complaining! Nightmare night with Poppy last night, she sleeps great until Sunday nights when I sure she has an inbuilt sensor and realizes that Mummy has to be at work in the morning so lets wake up at 1.00am and stay up until 5.00am wanting to play!!
Laughed at your sewing yourself up comment Gilly! I had a letter through from the Surgeon who looked after me with recommendations for any future pregnancies and the main one is not being allowed to go past 30 weeks gestation due to scarring on my uterus and bed rest from 18 weeks! If I was sure before that I wasn't having anymore, I really sure now! Letter also said he was extremely concerned at one point about maternal death - the thought of any more pregnancies fills with me dread.
Off to watch the soaps now and an early night.
Sleep well mums and babies!

I must be mad, I was already enquiring about "next time" to the community midwife 5 days later despite having a sickly pregnancy and not very straightforward birth and always thinking I'd probably only ever have one. Having this baby was the biggest high I've ever had in my life so I guess I'm an adrenaline junky who wants to experience it again! (then I remember all the puking, the aching and the worry for the first 20 weeks when there was no movement). However, I just feel so blessed to have one that I'm treating her as my one and only in case we are never lucky enough to have any more. I'm already broody for a tiny baby again as mine has grown to epic proportions!
I have no brothers and sisters and don't feel bad for it, that's one of the reasons I wasn't sure whether to have another as I'm not sure how to bring two kids up - I only have the example of my parents who have one.
Explosive nappies - sigh - what a nightmare they are! Especially when out and about I agree. Tried loads of different nappies and concluded they all leak when it is explosive! This little one has definitely been pooing more since having her daily bottle. On that note, all it seems to have done is give her griping wind in the night, not sure if it is a coincidence, the one-off settled day and night on friday must have been a total fluke as she hasn't been that settled since. Ditched the bottle today to see if her wind improves.
Edit: jannine that sounds terrifying!!!0 -
How scary Jannine. The things we put ourselves through for our bubbas!
The extra poop with formula is very normal, as with breastmilk the body takes everything it can from it, and there isn't much left over that can't be 'used' so = less poop. The frontier is never somewhere else. And no stockades can keep the midnight out.0 -
Definatly only one baby for me. I only ever wanted one but after a horrible induction, terrible tearing and PND it is set in stone.0

Thanks Gilly!
Just wondering if bubs should be on size 2 teats when she has a bottle? she is 10 weeks & over 13lb. Wondering if she is sucking too much air with the size 1 hence the bad wind?
Tonight is no-bottle trial night, we haven't had any windy screams yet which is good!0 -
We have used size 3 from the get go, but we used feed thickeners etc and he's always been able to cope with the faster flow. All you can do is try it and see how she manages
He's always been a fast feeder with the bottle, now he downs 8oz in about 2 mins 30
Worth a go to see how she re-actsSome babies are just v windy with bottles

I've been with size 2 for ages. She's the same age.
She's got wind at night, at around 6am every night she grunts, stir around and do little screams in her sleep For some unexplained reason, she improves and gets silent again when I pick her up and put her with me in bed, she'd be a bit propped up with my pillow at first and I put my hand on her tummy. After a while, I lay her flat on our bed and sleep together the last 2-3h of the night until 8-9am. Once she wakes up, she makes an explosive poo whilst drinking the first bottle of the day! Regarding explosive poos, if it's overy 24h since last one, nothing will hold it, she goes straight into the bath. Otherwise, pampers active fit seems to hold it better than the pampers newborn. But I'm now getting used to the daily leakage. At least it's first thing in the morning, so I change her for the day!
She's discovered her thumb as a way of soothing herself. 4 days now on a row that I find her sucking in the day when she's tired. I might put her mittens back on.Quit smoking *1st January 2010*

Re. one child - it seems unlikely that we will have another, although you never know. I thought I wanted two - now I'm wondering if I really want two or whether I think everyone else is expecting us to have two because that's what most people do, if you see what I mean?... OH has a son who's almost 14, so there's a significant age gap, but brother and sister adore each other
I'm not sure we could afford another baby and continue to live comfortably (we have a huge extended family abroad that relies on us for money), and OH thinks he's too old - he's 47 and I'm 34, so similar to a couple of others on here. We'll see - I've still got all my maternity clothes and a growing pile of LO's too-small clothes plus moses basket, play mat, jumperoo, newborn car seat and bouncer, so if and when we decide for sure that we're not having another one, I'll be having a clear out and will be gaining loads of storage space. Silver lining and all that!
