I'm just going off memory but I think it was the Jeryl Lynn strain on mumps in the MMR that caused meningitis a while back. That's why the c.1994 Measles campaign just used Measles-Rubella and not MMR. Also, the rubella vaccine has been acknowledged to be linked with arthiritis. (As in it has been accepted that there is a link not just alleged.) I do confess to not knowing a lot about the MMR though as the link with abortion means it has never been that relevant to me.fluffnutter wrote: »There has never been a single death linked to the MMR vaccine. But there have been deaths linked to its reduced take up in the past decade or so.
I doubt they actually have rat poison in them - what you will probably find is that there are ingredients in it that are also in rat poison. Having common ingredients with rat poison doesn't automatically make it bad - apple pips have arsenic in them but it's not particularly harmful to you if you eat the odd apple pip. (I'm not saying that therefore vaccines are fine - just that having common ingredients with rat poison doesn't automatically mean anything bad.)I did a bit of reading before deciding whether to vaccinate my LO and what you have to remember is apart from viruses vaccines contain a lot of other nasties. I think I read somewhere they contain traces of rat poison
I did take him for the first 3 sets of jabs but may not bother with MMR. I had measles and mumps as a child and so did my friends and siblings and I'm not sure if I like the idea of stuffing my LO full of chemicals just so he can get common childhood illnesses out of the way.
In America they have a special organisation that deals with adverse effects of immunisations and I think they even pay out compensations. here is the link.
I think part of the problem is that it's a bit like Chinese Whispers and things are open to misinterpretation so one person misunderstands something and then passes that on to others. Like if I said that some viral vaccines are produced using cell cultures that originally came from aborted babies, the chances are that some people would think that I was saying that there are cells from aborted babies in the vaccines even though I would not be and I know that a lot of people do go round claiming that the vaccines contain cells from aborted babies purely because they have either misunderstood or they have been given misinformation because someone somewhere along the line has misunderstood.
Although having said all that, it is actually very hard to find out exactly what is in the vaccines - I tried to find out the ingredients of one of the preschool boosters and I was able to work out roughly what it contained but one of the things in it was a mixture of chemicals and the exact mix would depend on which manufacturer provided the mix that was then put in the vaccine. I think I had it narrowed down to two or three possible blends but to know exactly what you were having I imagine you'd need to have a batch number and contact the vaccine manufacturer which would be rather involved.0 -
Nutella how was LO in the end?
Thanks for asking
She woke up 15 minutes after I posted my Nurofen dilemma, so was duly injected with a dose of the yellow stuff. She wouldn't settle back in her cot, so I put her in my bed and stayed awake for a bit so that I could check her temperature again to make sure it was going down. She then slept until 2am, when she woke up hungry (and I think it was genuine hunger - she hadn't eaten much during the day and did a huge poo before bedtime; the nappy had no chance of containing it and went all the way up to her shoulders and on my jumper up to my elbow ), so I gave her some milk and she fell asleep again until 6.45.
She's definitely better today - still coughing and spluttering and low on energy, but she ate her breakfast and is babbling away, so I'm not worried. Yesterday evening all she wanted to do was sit on my lap and stare into space - right now she's busy with Duplo-battering. The yellow goo in her eyes is also gone
Oh, and she protested when I tried to cut her nails - I should have done it last night when all I got was apathy

I might come along too (if no one minds, that is) and it would be after my mission school run so am likely to be a total mess:rotfl: I wouldn't worry.
I may be 28 but I'm a 28 year old scruff
:rotfl:
We have a happy baby today, she woke up and wolfed a big bowl of ready brek and then toast!
That was after a lovely cuddle in bed with my squeak, who kept waking me up with 'whats that noise?' erm, it's the seagull that is nesting on a roof over the road, same as the last 5 times!
We always just have the mmr and had no long lasting issues. Rather that than measles

I will be heading straight there after the school run too so you won't be on your own in looking a total mess!
Ill be quite easy to spot as you all know what pushchair I have (although I expect there will be hundreds!) and to make it easier I will have a blue changing bag with little mans name sewn onto it.
My question is, how do I find you lot?

I love the fact you described your changing bag! I'll be the person being removed by security for peering at people's bags looking for names :rotfl::rotfl:Mum of several with a twisted sense of humour and a laundry obsession
