Yes they are a lot better now thanks nutella. Order has been restored and I'm back to being the worst mother in the world who gets frowned at if I dare look at, let alone speak to, one of them. Happy days.:)DS1 10yrs

I loved that blog Katie
Is nobody splitting the 12-13month jabs? I know aimless is, but is anyone else?
They get 3 jabs in total for this one, so I'm going to do them one at a time, 4 weeks apart (following research I have done online). However I am undecided about the MMR and am going to ask my doctor if they will point it out rather than give the 3 in 1. If the doctor refuses, I will be taking Reu to have the, done privately separately, with measles first then rubella after. Mumps as a single injection is not available in the UK right now, so I'm not sure about thatbut from what I can see mumps is only dangerous if caught after puberty, and catching it as a child gives lifelong immunity....whereas the immunisation does not give lifelong immunity.
It's so very confusing!!0 -
isn't mumps the one where you get swelling on the side of your face? I thought you could catch it twice - one per side?0

Savage yes it is an infection that spreads to your saliva glands - giving you a hamster face. Just did a quick google and it seems it is possible to have mumps more than once, but unlikely. (like chickenpox, but I've had that twice!)0

turtle I'm undecided re jabs. I didn't know til recently you could split them at all. Do you split them (not the mmr, the others) so they don't get a reaction to them all at once or something? Part of me thinks just get it over with rather than dragging it out...
With the mmr I thought people only avoided it because of the disproved autism link, the mumps thing is interesting so will have a read, although I expect we'll just grit our teeth and do it.Newborn thread member

I had mumps as a child, so at least I now have lifelong immunityWhy have you decided to do them seperately? And what's the reason for doing them in that order? I must admit to not having done any research yet, so I'd be really interested in the views of someone more informed than me. Grateful for any info

I'm uncomfortable with the NHS pages - they say no country recommends single doses instead of the MMR - but this isn't true, the combine jab was banned in Japan in 1993. There's so much conflicting information on it all out there, that I'm feeling like I'd rather be safe than sorry. I'm pro-vaccination, but I feel like giving my 12/13month old 3 injections containing 5 viruses in one go is just excessive - and the more I read the more I am uncomfortable about the all in one mmr too0
