I swear I've eaten my own body weight in chocolate this Easter. Meanwhile, my little girl still hasn't tasted chocolate. Or cake*. Is that mean? :o

*But she did try ice cream last week :)

On a completely unrelated note, did anyone watch Bedtime Live last night? I wanted to throw the remote (LO's remote - not the one that actually works) at the TV when the 'expert' told us that every baby aged 6-10 months should be able to sleep all night. Well, I'm sorry Ms Expert, but my baby didn't read that book!

Not mean at all. Freddie's never had chocolate or cake. TBH, he eats pretty much whatever I'm eating that's suitable (I've a penchant for vindaloos but I've not tried him on those yet). As I don't really have a sweet tooth he's never had cake etc., although he's had some fruit scone and yoghurt which is pretty sweet too. I'm not obsessing about it; if I'm honest he does show a preference for sweet things (loves fruit more than anything else) but nor do I want to encourage a taste for sweetness. I kind of just offer him everything and not worry about it too much. Anything he eats is a bonus really because he's so uninterested in solids :(

As an aside, my dentist said that if you do give them treats (which you will because, frankly, it's a bit mean not to), then chocolate is the least bad. Mainly because it ultimately melts rather than stick to the teeth but also because the fat content is thought to help protect the teeth a little from the sugar. The worst thing is fizzy sour sweets like fizzy, sour cola bottles. The combination of sticky, sweet acid is a killer apparently.

Re. your comment about 6 - 10 month old babies sleeping through the night... just one thing to say to that - ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha. Yeah right :D

What.is considered temperature in a baby? My lo seems to have about 37-37.5C is that ok? She has been unsettled yesterday and today, she wants to nap yet she wakes up after half the time she normally sleeps. Should I worry?

I think I'll take her to the docs tomorrow. Her totals for sleeping and eating are the same as before, but she's more tired than usual. She generally has naps every 1.5h, except the first one of the day, which is 1h after waking up. Yesterday and today, however, she does not last 30min, sometimes she even wakes up tired. She's been very clingy and emotional. She's been doing that "open arms" reaction motion with any noise, she pulls out her bottom lip and looks very sad then starts crying high pitch all of a sudden because of some noise (like a yawn!) or because I have not talked to her in the previous 30 seconds! I feel so sorry for her!! She only wants to be carried, talked to and rocked to sleep. Not even the jumperoo is working, she sits there with sad face barely doing anything. However, she does giggle if I do the fake sneezes or cough, or quick kisses on the tummy, so she's not always down. I think she's hot but the ear thermometer says she's maximum 37.6, although it gives me different readings in different ears. Could it be faulty? During the whole day she has probably stayed awake and rested not more than 2h in total, the rest she's been sleeping or asking to be carried and rocked to sleep. Does it sound like anything to to you? I'm a bit worried.

The temperature readings are ever so slightly raised, but this could be due to your thermometer. What's more important is how she seems to you. Have you tried paracetamol? If you have, does it make any difference?

What you're describing doesn't fill me with alarm, marta, but she's your baby, you know her best and if you're worried, then a trip to the GP will put your mind at rest and is entirely the right thing to do.

Marta, my LO was a bit like that just before her first tooth appeared - very clingy and miserable, had a bit of a fever and would only sleep if we held her. So I guess it could be that, but if you're worried do take her to the doctor, if only to put your mind at rest. Hope things improve very soon x
