hi ya fluff, jade is 2 months old tomorrow, yep im a but down, think cos is my aanv on the 1st april and we will not be able to go out, J will not stay with anybody. Also others friends with babies similar age of Jade are sleeping only waking up once at night.
I've only had one night of one wake up since birth - the rest have been more! I'm lucky in that he will go to other people but know a friend whose had to be holding her mother's earlobe to fall asleep...

For those of you who use re-useable nappies, do you soak them while waiting for enough washing to fill the machine? Just started using our 1st re-useable today and realised I'd not thought that far ahead!
no, we do a nappy only load c. every 3 days with only one baby. With 2 I think you'll be doing loads so regularly it's not needed. Most modern nappies say to 'dry pail' which means no soaking. I tend to try rinse ours before putting them in the bucket though to get the worst of the wee out. We're currently on hols in a hot country (hence the waaaay delayed responses from me) and the nappy bucket really does start to develop quite a pong in the heat (from his wee, his poo luckily doesn't smell) - not nearly so much in the cooler uk!

Afraid not, I saw on their Fb page pics of the Aintree opening recently (trollies full of wrapped up presses for the first 100 kiddies through the doors!) and asked about it but they just said in April. I'll keep my eyes peeled though. There's pretty much just one day I couldn't day this month so I bet I can guess when it is...

Question regarding monitors. At the moment we bring LOs basket into the front room for evenings but would like him to get used to going down alone. We can't afford a monitor at the moment but wondered if any others have managed without?
Peanut I tried to PM you but couldn't. Is it a setting you've chosen or does MSE not like you at the moment?

I found with the kiddicare opening date thing they seem to hide it pretty well until a couple of weeks before - following their FB page seemed to be the best way of finding out about it all to be honest.

What's interesting to note is that the Mothercare right next door to the Nottingham Kiddicare doesn't seem to be struggling like I thought it would do with it opening - apparently they're getting tonnes of the trade that Kiddicare pulls in popping in to Mothercare to see the clothes there as well. Had it down as a certainty to go under within months.

And sorry for too many questions, the week by week book says I should put her to nap in her cot at certain times to get her used to napping at those times. It also says eventually she will sleep 2-3h for midday nap... My lo sleeps 3-5 times during the day, but only for half an hour each time and no way I can put her in the cot to sleep whilst she's awake, I need to make her sleepy or put her asleep. When did your lo start having long naps? When were you able to put them down to sleep? How did you manage it? I'm trying the gentle way, where you put them sleepy and they fall asleep on their own but I had only little success and only in her moses, we have just assembled the cotbed, so I'll have to start all over again!!!

don't see my baby adhering to this. only nap pattern he has every day is that he'll have a morning nap about an hour after waking up for the day - anything else varies like mad daily.

Can I please ask another question? We used 3 re-useable yest. the first was a little lamb with a fleece liner and a paper liner. This might be a really stupid question but is that right? Should I be using waterproof outer pant things? Cos the nappy was dripping wet after her 1st wee. Including the outside .
late to this one too - we use ll 'fitteds', you have the nappy, a long piece of material of the same type as the nappy (the booster) and then the washable or flushable liner (we use washable fleecy ones). over that goes the wrap (waterproof). if you buy wraps make sure they're the new label as the older ones sometimes leak. it might also be that the nappies aren't at full absorbancy yet - it takes a few washes. If second hand they could be clogged up with washing liquid/powder - google strip wash. Mr here can be in a LL all night - we have had it sopping wet when we change him in the morning recently though but it never leaks - I think we might need to have two boosters soon if it continues.

Well *hello* all :) as can be seen by my spam above I've finally caught up with you!! We're on holiday at the moment but are heading back to the UK tonight, hopefully I keep up with you from now on! Otherwise not much news from me except that baby flies well (so far - he's had 4 flights in his little life) - and if you go on holiday to see family make sure you have enough spare packing room for about an entire suitcase of baby clothes ;)
