What would you have as a tatoo and why?

One of my work colleagues has a QR code tattoo on his arm
It takes you to his species 5618 blog/website if scanned.

if a woman moved in next door to you who had tattoos, your heart would sink, wouldn't it?
I get on very well with my neighbours TYVM
Why do people who don't have them feel so venomous towards those that do? They're not hurting you are they? We're not all going to hold you down and force you to get one
I have quite a few tattoos (very well done) including a whole arm sleeve and for the record i've NEVER had a problem getting a job either, in fact my current job involved a very tough recruitment process but here I am. My colleagues say they mention me when people say something like "I want a tattoo but i'd never get a respectable job". Such an old fashioned way of thinking!Proud meowmy of four fuzzy cats

I doubt I'd ever get a tattoo for a variety of reasons but if I did, the one below is likely the one I'd choose. It's from a fantasy sci-fi series (Warhammer) but I like the idea and the simplicity behind it, one head is looking to the past which is blinded and the other looks to the future and has its eyes open.

I don't see anyone being 'venomous' at all, just because they disagree with them doesn't mean they would treat anyone differently. When people feel victimised because someone doesn't agree with them, usually the issues are within the 'victim' rather than the other person.
I don't dislike people for having them, I do feel some pity. There has to be something not quite right if you let some nutter practice his doodling by poking needles full of ink through your skin and no its not doing anyone else any harm, but neither does self harming - but we try to help people with that condition. I struggle to see much difference.0 -
If I was to get anything it wouldn't be a tattoo but a piece of scarification [do NOT google this if you are squeamish!], for me it is a lot more natural and looks a part of your body.
It can be done by cutting or with chemicals, anything that makes a mark i think, it generally causes keloid scarring which makes the scars are raised when they heal.
I could post a few links of ones i like but it would likely get taken down... ironic.0 -
I'm covered in keloid scars and they are anything but glamorous. I'm sorry but to me anyone who intentionally scars themselves is a self harmer and needs help.0

I have several tattoos that cover surgery scars which I found ugly and am thrilled that they have been covered and have several more to be done over time. I have chosen to use images from Japanese art, which my tattooist then recreates adding her own artistic touch.
I will also add that I am weary of the 'haters', the OP did not invite your personal opinions. Start your own thread and voice them there, I am certain it wont lack contributors.0 -
I love my tattoos
I am 40.
I had a wolf on my shoulder/back when I was 21 and a wizard and castle on the other side about a year later. About a year after that I had a small purple flower on the inside of my leg just about the ankle. I love wolves. I like fantasy art and the wizard and castle went well with the wolf. Purple is my favourite colour and I wanted a tattoo which was subtle and on show.
When I was 36 I had a Celtic/floral tattoo at the bottom of my back. I had wanted one for years and particularly liked the design.
2 years ago after collecting images for some time I booked a consultation with a custom tattooist. She did me a cherry blossom branch on my calf and I decided to have a full back piece done incorporating my early tattoos and getting them recoloured. I love the finished piece and to me it is a work of art. I have a woodland scene and have a tree up one side with branches going across below my shoulders. A fairy with beautiful wings is kneeling among flowers. There are petals and butterflies, sky, clouds, grass and toadstools. The original wolf and wizard look like they are in the distance, the fairy in the foreground. Did I say I love it! I will rarely show it although glimpses are often visible.
I am planning something at the top of an arm next but still working on my design. I want something easy to show when I want to and easy to cover when I don't. Seeing as it is almost 20 years since my first one I doubt I will ever have any regrets.
I find it sad that some people might not want to live next door to me but it is there loss. That kind of prejudice is hard to swallow. I own my own home, am a mum, and have a job as a legal assistant. I am a nice person and I love ink
WOW!! I'd love to see that, it sounds amazing

I've enjoyed reading this thread as I've been thinking about a tattoo for a long time and recently decided that I'll get one, I really like foot tattoos, I think they look lovely. Now to decide what to have, I was thinking of my daughter's name on my foot with butterflies."Nobody made a greater mistake than he who did nothing because he could only do a little." Edmund Burke

I have a treble clef on my wrist and am thinking about getting the crowded house lyrics" still so young to travel so far, old enough to know who you are" on my ribs.
I find statements like the one about someone with tattoos moving in next door funny! Some of the most respectable people I know have tattoos including policemen, teachers and even a minister.
I adore that song it has the cleverest lyrics.0
