What would you have as a tatoo and why?

The emblem may look similar but it's not the same (always more detail and both eyes open) and more crucially, the meaning which is the part I like about it has nothing to do with any of the Empires you mention as I doubt it represents the union of technology and biology with them but would be happy to be proved wrong on that one

It represents a lack of originality and blatant plagiarism. Even the characters who use it in the scifi series call themselves an empire. The truth may be out there, but the lies are inside your head. Terry Pratchett

Sending you my condolences and {{hug}} Your lovely mother's pain is over now - and yours begins.
Thank you Thorsoak. Your comment is very true.
Mum hasnt yet been gone 24 hours and already Im lost without her. She was my whole world and to lose her when she was just 61 years old seems so wrong.
Thank you again for the hugs xThe loopy one has gone :j0 -
I have a lot of tattooes, only lettering I have is 'mum', I'm getting one next month with ’rest ye well among the stars'. For my mum, I lost her on December 1st. I have mum and a swallow bird with clouds around it that I got the day after she was diagnosed with leukaemia.
We're I to get random writing, I'd get 'viva indifference' it's a song lyric, always stick in my head as a tattoo idea.Sigless0 -

A very elderly lady was having words from a shakespeare play 'be not afeared' around her wrist. It got me thinking; I am a fifty something  woman with no tatoos and think O would have the words form Rudyard Kipling's 'If': if you can meet with triumph and disaster and treat those two imposters just the same.
I think they are great words to remember as you travel through life. Anyone have any thoughts?
Such a long sentence-that could be painful!
I personally would never have a tattoo done. They look cheap and ugly IMO.0 -

As you've already pointed out, many civilizations have already used that emblem (clearly also guilty of blatant plagiarism) and in itself a two headed eagle isn't unique in the first place. Plus as I've said twice now it's the meaning that I liked (which is completely different to all those you listed) but I guess that concept just goes over your head because you seem to think you look smart by pointing out the obvious that a double headed eagle isn't original. Whether you add another smug reply or not, I don't really care as I won't be wasting any more time reading your posts or replying to you.

I have a tattoo on my bum. Its a butterfly and I had it done after lying on the beach and this butterfly landed right there and stayed there for about ten minutes! I decided then and there it looked so pretty - that I would have a permanent reminder. butterflies are also a symbol of transformation - which appealed.
You could see a butterfly on your BUM!!!

This place has some of my favourite tattoo artists. They do a lot of their work in the style of Japanese paintings or inks and the effect is amazing.

I have no idea how this kind of tattoo will fade with age, and some of them are somewhat more abstract (so will get a lot of "why did you splatter paint over yourself" comments) but many of these are works of art.
And to answer the title, I would like a bird in the style of the above (ink/watercolour) or a dragon but I would never be able to settle on a design
