well yes that as well ,gosh didnt realize it took them that long, i suppose they thought they might find her, but saying that they say the shutters had been messed with and door was open then id be on to police straight away , still cannt help but really feel for them though, even though i must admit i wouldnt have left mine on their own , but i dont like to judge as if people are adamant on getting kids they will like the little girl who was snatched from her own bath..its just awful0 -
I pray for Madeline's safe return.0

Its a terrible tragedy and would seem to have been fairly avoidable, which is what makes it all the worse.
Leaving 3 children under 4 alone whilst you are out of the builidng and unable to hear them is utterly utterly stupid. I wouldn;t do this with my children, I wouldn;t for one minute think they would be abducted but I would be worried about them wkaing upo and being upset, falling out of bed, wandering around and hurting themselves, especially when away from home. My daughter (2 1/2) is the world's best sleeper and never ever wakes up but I would never leave the builidng while she is asleep just in case.
If they were even across the way at a quiet restaurant and able to see the apartment/room they still couldn't hear anyway. The fact that they also obviously couldn't see the apartment/room was also crazy. What if there had been a fire or something ?
Aarrrgh I can;t think about it, its so awful, I can't imagine what they are going through, but how could they have left those kids unsupervised. But noone deserves to be going through what they must be going through. Poor poor people.Jan GC: £202.65/£450 (as of 4-1-12)

If you look at the picture there is a road immediately next to the apartment door it would take seconds for someone to exit the apartment and disappear out of site, even if the child awoke and made it's own way out of the apartment she would have inevitably taken this route as the light would have been greater than walking down the alleyway towards the pool which would have been in her path, the parents in their wildest dreams may have had a view on the apartment the child at her height being three would most definately had no view of the parents and no reason to follow that path seeking them. Puttin myself in the shoes of this child there is no way I would seek to walk down a shrub and building enclosed alley with the option of a brightly lit street available as an alternative, again this would apply to any would be abductor, a simple right turn two steps out of the apartment would put me in relative safety of escape whereas any other route expose me to discovery. This was a disaster waiting to happen, the proximity of the door to the public highway alone should have been enough to concern the parents.Four guns yet only one trigger prepare for a volley.Together we can make a difference.0

where did you get this bit of info from? I havent heard that anywhere.
if thats accurate, then its very worrying....
its things like the suggestion implied by that fact, added to the emotionless appeal that just makes me so uneasy.
as for the distance of the restaurant....I will give you a for instance,
my daughter (who is normally quite a good sleeper, you rarely hear from her once she is asleep) came downstairs hours after her bedtime to tell me she had a bad dream and threw a fit because she had looked in my bedroom, the kitchen and front room and couldnt find me, admittedly she was tired and not at all with it but she was in hysterics thinking i wasnt here (i was quietly relaxing in the bath  )
she was really upset and i was in the house, so imagine how bad it would have been for her if i had just nipped next door for a cup of tea.
next door for 10 minutes....not round the corner out of sight of the whole house.... for the whole evening, she would have screamed the place down and probably been very hard to settle for a long time after.
I wouldnt leave her alone anyway.... but as an example i think it makes a point.0 -
Most children at the age of three or even two as the twins were would be absolutely distraught and unconsolable on waking to find no-one to answer their cries.Curious_George wrote: »where did you get this bit of info from? I havent heard that anywhere.

if they reallyhad to leave the kids all alone while they dined, shame they never consdiered using a portable wireless baby listener.
its really sad news and hope they get some positive news soon that she is alive and well.0 -

I hadn't heard this either.
I am thinking the same as you Curious George, something doesn't seem right. I know the parents are told sort of how to say things etc when they appeal but I didn't see a single tear from either of them.
If I was having to say 'my little ***, missed by his brother, we need him' etc I would be breaking down. I also wouldn't have been worried about how I look, wouldn't bother putting lippy & jewellery etc on.
Not that I am suggesting that the parents have played a part in the little girls disappearance. I don't know what it is but something's just not quite right.
I also would have thought that if someone took her to sell to a childless couple or something like that then they would have took one of the younger ones?? Unless there was a specific request for a little girl of around that age.If you're going to stalk me, while you're at it can you cut the grass, feed the dog & make sure I've got bread & milk in

I don't think criticising the parents is in any way helpful. Direct your anger to the paedophiles and kidnappers.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. As I said last night, I'm sure they're on high doses of Valium just to be able to speak at all.
I have a friend who was a reporter on the Ben Needham case - the police wasted hours, stretching into days, determined to prove that the father was somehow involved. How has his mother stayed sane?
And although it was clearly irresponsible to leave them (and that of course makes it worse for the parents, if it could actually be any worse) my daughter has stayed in a very similar resort, where leaving the children to have them checked on by staff was one of the selling points of the holiday.
I have a horrible feeling that she was across the border into Spain, not just before the border police were informed, but possibly even before her disappearance was reported.0
