you are in a strange country at the end of the day !

RE the child checking services, ive not had any experience of them / used them TBH

only heard of "listening services" used in hotels whereby the phone in the room is left off the hook and at reception they can listen in to tell when the child wakes etc

i would be more on my guard in another country yes - children don't know the neighbours, phone boxes, locations they can go to if they are lost etc. but more importantly they would be more likely to get run over i think - i have a clumsy child with no road sense so it would be the roads i'd be thinking of rather than the very small danger of being snatched.

i wouldn't use a checking service, no. i've heard of listening in services, sounds a bit like using a baby monitor, good idea. at least somebody would hear if a child was crying for mum.

didn't somebody say on another thread that the hotel had stopped their listening in service, and the babysitting service was oversubscribed? i don't know the details, but perhaps in order to do a 20-min patrol the patrol people can only look after a certain number of apartments and maddie's parents didn't book in time to get a slot?

one of them could have stayed in yes, i don't know if the other children in the party were in beds alone in other apartments?

whether maddie is found or not perhaps other parents will rethink their own babysitting arrangements on holiday this year.

You go by situations like this in a sort of trance. She made a mistake leaving them(i know a huge one) but her wearing earings for interview means nothing. Poor woman is going through hell or maybe she is still in shock. I think people should give the poor woman a break.
Looks hopefull(just looked at news) .Even Renaldo(?) has made a plea which is good...get everyone keeping their eyes peeled.

Oh for goodness' sake! And that's the polite version.

According to Portuguese TV, a town has been cordonned off, and there will be a police statement at 6.30.

    Wouldn't it be wonderful..............?

I hope she is unharmed but what will the chances be that she has been tampered with over the past few days.. that worries me- she may be alive but deeply effected
