Hubby went away this afternoon until Tues night so another good test for me. Means I won't be able to go for that brisk walk quite so easily if DS is at home or in bed but sure I'll be fine!

Debbie I understand what you mean about missing smoking - today after I'd done all the clinic I did think oo I'll have a cigarette now (I tended to have them as 'rewards' after chores were done) and felt momentarily sad..... but that is also getting much easier to deal with - hooray!

Sue no restless legs as yet today tho tend to get them just before bedtime! I do all kinds of movements when it starts, my DS was killing himself laughing at me yesterday and i was nearly in tears with frustration!... fingers crossed I'll be free tonight!

    Have a good evening everybody.

Hi Schmickle and I'm SO pleased your feeling so very much better - that the cough is improving too! :j It's alright for DS to lugh his socks off at you.... but just wait til he gets it when he's older. It's orrible, though I haven't suffered from it for a little while now! Shouldn't have said that should I, ah well.

Missing smoking is so natural, it's been such a huge part of our lives for [STRIKE]ages[/STRIKE] years and you can't just forget it so quickly, but one day soon it'll 'hit you' that you haven't thought of it nearly all day. Remember we've been addicted to the dirty monsters and our brains became dictated by them - well NO MORE!!!!! We're getting the best under control and you WILL do it Schmickle! Re hubby being away, get your strength from now til Tuesday from knowing you're doing it for HIM and your DS. :T

Hi paybacktime2008 and very well done!!! Keep coming on to the thread and let us know how it's going for you. I sincerely hope you're beginning of regaining good health, wealth too! There are so many of us on here who have quit, I really do hope you can be included!!! The very best of luck and keep strong and say NO to the little beggars!!!

Well done Paybacktime. Me too, I gave up today after 45 years. I've opted for the cold turkey route and I'm fairly confident I'm going to make it this time, but will take each day as it comes.
  • Hi everyone week 9 and not a puff!! Feel great apart from the weight gain been to the gym 3 times a week walk at lunchtime and went for a swim at the weekend. Still I put on weight. I won't be deterred will tackle the weight problem at a later date. Congrats to everyone who is still ciggy free, and welcome to all new giver upers!
Smoke Free since 13th September £1400 better off

Well done themammy! 9 whole weeks - wow. You're well over the worst now, but still don't be complacent. Don't worry about the weight as that'll sort itself out - a relatively minor issue. I know all this 'cos I gave up for about 14 months, and then just had the one puff. That's all it takes. Believe me, it's MUCH harder the second or third time round.

Well done for getting back into it Mintoze, I'm thrilled that you've taken the leap and I honestly do hope you make it for quits this time ....and never get tempted to take a puff again! :D You're so right about it being harder each time, it hurts so much too, after letting ourselves down that way. Still, on you go.... you can do it!

Congratulations with another week's success themammy!!!! You've so much to be delighted with, and we are for you too! Mintoze is right about the weight part, it will sort itself out after you know you've quit for good. Still keep up the exercise though as you'll benefit all round and at least it's keeping some weight off. Are you eating extra to compensate for evil sticks ie. extra nibbles, chocolate, sweets etc? If so cut it down and switch to fruit and carrot or celery sticks ready prepared in the fridge. Also "Feedumall" one of our great successes here did wonders eating ice poles and lemon (sour) sweets. Try huge apples to really get your teeth into as well - and if you're tempted to snack, go up and down the stairs a few times, that might diminsh your hunger pangs. A great ally right now is WATER! Drink plenty of it as it's a great filler-upper. Try a glassful about 20 mins before a meal too.

Good luck everyone, it's the start of a wonderful week, so bear that in mind and make it an even better one for YOU!!! :j

  • still going strong guys and although the missus is suffering temptation at the moment she is doing really well to resist...

Good luck to all the new starters....when you get as far in as i am now (nearly 3.5 months) you will all feel absolutely fantastic...

I feel like i have had a new lease of life...I am not anywhere near as tired as i used to be. I have put two stone on which is fantastic for me... i was underweight before. I have regained my weird sense of humor and am soo much less stressed despite only being six months into recent promotion at work.

It will be the best thing any of you ever do (bar either have kids or get married)

Please stop and never look back...if i can fo it, anyone can.

Hi Daz! Wonderful to see you again and to know that you're still feeling SO very good about quitting! :T I hope you're wife sticks and doesn't go back as we all know she'd bitterly regret it so very quickly! Give her a gentle reminder that she's not only doing it for herself, but for those wonderful kiddies you have - you too of course!! I hope your little girl is doing fine, no doubt mum has plenty of help from the others! Thanks so much for keeping us updated, we need that motivation here. So many thanks Daz!

Hi paybacktime2008. 3 days smoke free already! Keep counting the money as I think it gives us all such great incentive to keep on pushing on with the great quest. You're on a terrific journey pbt, very well done!

Keep it up everyone, every day is a step closer to your goal of a fresh life!

    Hi everyone,

Thank you Debbie...hope your cold is now gone, mine has! Things haven't been easy for me over the weekend, we had to put my Mum's dog down. She is devastated. I was desperate to smoke outside the Vets but i didn't.:j

What I have done though is to keep inhaling on one of those plastic things with the nicotine inside. This means I have actually put the nicotine back in my body after day 5

I was in a real state after this as I now feel that I am addicted to the nicotine again. Have I gone back to the start?!! I keep thinking that it would be quite nice to have one.......
