Hi Deb and a warm welcome to the thread - to quitting too!!! My condolences to you about your mum, it must have been awful for you to simply stand by being so helpless. With your hubby and children to care for (and for your mum too!) you now have great motivation to quit for good and I wish you all the very best in your goal. Put that money aside and watch it grow ....and know the chances of you having opd will be diminishing and you'll soon feel a whole lot better in all you do!

The thread's here whenever you wish to sound off ....or to brag!!! ;) Just come on and talk to us, we'll help you as much as possible!

    The very best of luck!!!

Sue PS. ....no suggestions for hubby I'm afraid. Well, I have a couple but not for the board!!! :rotfl:

I'm a newcomer to this thread and have been reading everybody else's experiences with interest.
I gave up (after 45 years of 20 a day) a couple of years ago after reading Allen Carr's books and didn't miss it a bit. Huge success! After a year I became complacent and asked my son for just one puff of his cig. That was it. It was downhill all the way after that in a very short time. Whatsmore, I seem to be making up for lost time and smoking more than before. I have read AC's book again, twice, but it didn't work. Went to his clinic in Leeds, twice, and that didn't work either. I do believe in his book and will probably read it again (and again and again) because I'm reluctant to go on to the replacement therapies.
My message to all those who have given up is DON'T EVEN HAVE A PUFF.

What great words of wisdom they are too! I think many of us have had those evil thoughts go through our heads ...that just one puff won't affect us - BUT it's just our heads toying with us to spark us off again - AND it works every time - unless it makes us feel ill!!!:o

A warm welcome to the thread Mintoze and I sincerely hope that, after such great success the first time, you'll get there again when things feel just right to do so. When you get there then do let us know, you'll certainly get a great deal of support here, but thanks for the above last words, I hope any who are tempted will see them! :D

All the very best and never stop trying to quit.

Extremely well done Debbie!!! That's the worse 3 out of the way. Take it all a day at a time, but you've made a GREAT start!!! :T Try now to look to the week marker and with each passing day you're closer and closer. You CAN do it!!!! :j:T

Very bad luck frazzmunch and how terrible for one so very, very young. How I sympathise with his/her parents. Of course it will have "knocked you for six", all deaths do, but with one so terribly young..... it all seems so very unfair and wrong.

As soon as you feel able, grab hold of whatever makes you think of quitting again and seize that chance with all you have! All the very best for now, and for then.
