Well done sunny t, that's just brilliant :j I'm really pleased for you.

I had a huge failure on my last attempt so have been keeping a low profile while I get my head ready to re launch into battle. Think I'm just about ready now, havent had one since 9.45 this morning & so far managed to dismiss any cravings without any nicotine aids but have 2 cigs left & may well smoke them this evening to be rid of them or may keep them, not sure yet  .

To all who have succeeded 'well done' & to all who are still trying, keep on trying. And to all who thought I was a goner......I'm back so :p .

    Hey Puzzy, thank you & ... 2 months, wow :A , well done :D .

I've thought long & hard about whether I should smoke the last 2 or keep them for 'emergencies' . I started wondering exactly what type of an emergency could be remedied by 2 cigarettes... cholera outbreak, nuclear war, meteor hurtling towards earth ?

I 've also been thinking about how smoking is tied up with my 'identity' & realised that's why I was struggling to quit, smoking represents the person, way of life & reckless habits that I have to leave behind in order to live a new & better life in the present & future. Essentially, I have to grow up  .

I smoked the penultimate one a couple of hours ago & I'm now gonna go choke the last one down before midnight.

I promise I'll try hard not to whine ;)

Just wanted to say hi to everyone :hello:

I have an appointment at the doctors tomorrow at 12 to join the quit smoking group that they do. I have given up twice before while I was pregnant and this time it's for real.

My 5 year old son kept pretending to smoke yesterday and it really hit home what I was doing, I know it will be a difficult first few weeks and I know it gets better after that which is why I want to join this thread to keep me going.

My wii fit is being delivered today just in time, whenever I get a craving I'm going to jump on that for 10 minutes. I eat like a horse at the best of times but managed to get to my target weight at slimming world and am desperate to stay that way and be smoke free too.

I've only told my other half about stopping but he will forget and wonder why I'm cranky!! I decided not to tell everyone else because I can't stand the guilt of hiding it if I fail again.

Smoking is like a friend to me, whenever I've had a bad day or just need a few minutes to myself it is what I reach for.

Sorry to go on but I just wanted to write down all the things going through my head so I am prepared for tomorrow.

Wish me luck and well done for everyone else who writes on here :T :T

Hi everyone. OK update from me....another bad weekend. I smoked Friday and Saturday night!! I am struggling big time when it comes to socialising :(

I think that is 3 weekends out of 4 where I have smoked in the evenings. My brilliant wife is disappointed but accepts it. Habit is the weird thing. I no longer smoke at work, I do not smoke at weekends in the day, I have no problems there - it is when socialising. We had friends over on Friday and then Saturday. Both nights I had beer or wine and because I new I was going to smoke, I went to the shop and bought 10. And smokedthe lot
I should be posting smoke free for 4 weeks today. Instead I am showing that I am still dependant argggghhhhh
On a brighter note, I find out tonight if I have a new job. I have had 3 inetrviews with another company...fingers crossed everyone :)
(The payrise will be nice - debt free even faster hopefully)
Sorry to all my virtual non-smokers and quitting friends. I actually feel like I have let you down....but onwards and upwards

good luck to all new non-smokers :)

    Quick post from me...

I'm in Germany, and its strange, there are only a few people smoke, no where near as many as in the UK, but cigarettes are much cheaper (€3.60 a pack!), you can buy them on the streets, legal age is 16 and there is advertising all over.

Not sure how that works, but I suppose its good for Germany.

It doesn't matter what the UK government do, raise the age, raise the price etc. it doesn't work!

    Hey everyone,

Thanks Feedie :A I missed you too, but just felt wrong about posting while smoking. Big congratulations on your 3monthiversary -.

Lewki - Dont stress, it's really tough & not everyone manages to do it in one go. I'm certainly not advocating that you re start smoking; however, I had to go away, almost smoke as per normal in order to remember why I wanted to give up & it didnt take long ;) . I was so cross with the blips that 'ruined' my record I had to scrap the whole attempt & start afresh  .

Anyway, I finished my last smoke at 11.55pm yesterday so very nearly 24 hours now :D I did a lot of thinking leading up to this & rather than throw the butt in the bin & wash the ashtray out...I threw the ashtray in the bin too. I've had quite a stressy day, done 11 hours work & phone kept ringing & I know for sure that had I saved the 2 'emergency' ones, I would have smoked them :o , but instead I've had 4 gums, loads of water & some orange juice, oh & a few peanut butter sarnies too  .

If at first you dont succeed...keep trying until you do :D
