Hello quitters, went for a hike on Dartmoor today lovely blue skies and lots of fresh air we went a little out of our way and ended up climbing a big hill that was covered in gorse bushes and shoulder high ferns. I must admit it got a little scary it is very easy for us to get lost - even with a map.
Loads of cute foals around at the moment but not many tourists. We then went and had a nice meal but I did not have room for a cream tea.
I find it helps to go walking which we have to do anyway the more excercise I get the better I am feeling. Also going out on my trike which is great. Does anyone else who cycles have trouble with their saddle? mine is very uncomfortable. The nice man in the shop says that I will get used to it in time. Meanwhile I have seen some sheepskin motorcycle saddle covers so I am going to get one of them.
Well done Jo quitting after your very tiny blip.
Take care all,

Morning all
Hope we are all well and smoke free today!
It's 9.55am and I've just realised I forgot to put my patch on this morning  now I can't decide whether to go put it on now or leave them off altogether?
What you guys reckon?
HW2007, don't worry you are doing fine! It's just that brain of your remembering what you usually do at that time, but now you've changed your routine and you no longer smoke so it's gonna take a while for your subconscious to get used to that. Won't take long, it will get easier every day.DFW Nerd no. 496 - Proud to be dealing with my debts!!0 -
Hi ILA
Lovely to hear from you and glad you're still with us! How lucky you are to live so close to such beautiful countryside! All well with me, I can honestly say this morning I haven't really thought of ciggies until now (been up since 7.45am) - how cool is that - I really must be getting there yay!!
Happy Smokefree Day all!!!
love and hugs

Hi all,
jo - I'd be tempted to leave the patches off altogether!! But its down to you....But whatever you decide to it's better than smoking - keep up the good work..!
I don't know if this is a good thing or a bad thing! I'm waking up 30 minutes earlier than I normally do on a work-day!!I'm no longer rushing around in the morning! And I feel awake as soon as I awake (so to speak).
I cant believe I saved around £25 for giving up already since Sunday evening! :T
Part of me thinks I'm there and there is no looking back. But part of me is waiting for some really bad withdrawl symptom/craving to happen!?!?!
Good luck all - heres to another smoke free day!!
cheerio for now!!I gave up smoking on: Sunday 29th July 2007 @ 7.38pm!

Motivators for quitting:
(1) New baby due in October 2007
(2) Financial
(3) Stop ignoring / resenting / inconveniencing family & friends when I need to have a cigarette0 -
HW, the waiting for a really bad withdrawal symptom/craving to happen is a good thing, this means you are not being complacent!! The minute you forget about the fact that this might happen it gets dangerous cos when it does happen it shocks the life out of you and you don't know how to deal with it.
Be prepared and ready for it and you will know how to deal with it.
You are doing great

Morning everyone. I'm finding I have a lot more energy this week, going to bed later and feeling more awake at work. I didn't expect that so its come as a nice surprise! Jo, I'd really try to keep the patches off. It sounds like the feeling you had when you realised you didn't have one is similar to the one we all used to have when we realised we were running out of cigs, and that is the nicotine that makes you think like that. Maybe try without today and see how you get on?
Since I stopped smoking I feel a lot more chilled, I'm walking more slowly to work and annoying everybody on the Victoria Line! Have a good day everyone

Afternoon,
Well I just had to do a mystery shop in Fenchurch Street in London, I don't know if any of you know it. Right by the station there is a flight of stone steps and at the bottom a wine bar. Now I've not been down that way for a few months but usually there's half a dozen people standing outside, today there was easily up to 100 people out there, all smoking!! The whole area absolutely stunk! I had to weave my way around groups of people, almost getting burnt by fags and having smoke blown in my face!
I feel so sorry for the office workers above that pub during the summer time when the windows are open. I know for a fact that my boss would complain about it cos he's completely anti-smoking!
This lunchtime has just helped affirm the fact that I no longer want to be a smoker, I just can't stand the smell of it anymore! Plus I just ate an ambrosia strawberry custard and it tasted wonderful, it's normally wonderful but even more wonderful todayDFW Nerd no. 496 - Proud to be dealing with my debts!!0 -
Hi all,
Been in meetings all day, hence posting much later than normal. I'm actually feeling pretty good today - had a few cravings, but that was at least partly because the meetings I was in kept referring to smoking cessation groups (my colleagues know I've quit this week & I've asked them to excuse any rattiness, but please not to mention it to me)
I even managed a beer last night without craving a cig! Trying to decide whether to go down the pub or not tonight - I think by this point most of the nicotine is gone from my body, so the smell might be enough to really put me off, or I could start begging people for a drag...Total Debt 13th Sept 2006 (exc student loan): £6240.06

Just stay inside the pub and drink more storm
Leave the smokers to it! If all else fails, think about the images in the Max Kirsten vid!
I have faith in you, remember why you're doing it!
Good luck and have a lovely eveningDFW Nerd no. 496 - Proud to be dealing with my debts!!0 -
Hi
Its been tricky for me today, really hectic lots of running around and stress and a couple of times I really felt like a cigarette - thankfully I resisted - but the strongest urges in a long time - grrrrrr - thought I was past that!!! Glad to hear you're all doing well, must have been awful weaving through all those smokers Jo, we really were an inconsiderate lot!! Thankfully that is in the past and we can smile pityingly at the poor (literally!) smokers and their self inflicted ball and chain!!!!
