I've decided my smoke free date will now be next tuesday (14th)
Yayyyyy!!!! :T :T :T :T :j :j :j
Go jet! We are ALL here for support when/if you need it. If you haven't already read, I used Neil Casey's book to stop. He gives a couple of exercises and visualisation techniques that really worked for me. And you can read it in one sitting - it's not a weighty thing like AC

I've decided my smoke free date will now be next tuesday (14th) and I have decided that I am going to concentrate on getting myself through one day at a time.
Hi Jet,
All the very best for your quit date. Keep focussed, be confident, and you can do this.
I didn't have a quit date as such - I smoked a cigarette and thought 'thats it. no more' (money, and my first baby on its way in October - were the main reasons/motivators -- I'm male by the way!) I didn't have time to prepare for anything - I just jumped head first. But each to their own and I wish you all the best.
8 days have been and gone since I 'became an ex-smoker'...Have I missed smoking? Kindof? It's hard to explain. But the cravings I had on Saturday seem to have passed, and I too no longer have to worry about when I can have my next cigarette.
My smell has improved 10x already! It may sound silly this -- but I can smell toothpaste like I've never before!!!?! :rolleyes:
Enjoy the rest of your day everyone. And good luck to all.
Cheerio --I gave up smoking on: Sunday 29th July 2007 @ 7.38pm!
==========================================
Motivators for quitting:
(1) New baby due in October 2007
(2) Financial
(3) Stop ignoring / resenting / inconveniencing family & friends when I need to have a cigarette0 -

Memories hw, just memories. I still get them myself (just back off holiday with three smokers and no smoking ban). had a flashback to last year when I would have been smoking too. Made me smile. A lot.
jo - I get 'soapbox' moments sometimes. Don't mean to preach, hope no one thinks I am being condescending......
BTW - big news....*drumroll* Mrs TNG said on hols she is stopping when we get back :j :j :j :j . Don't think its happened today, but hopefully, before the stress of work gives her an excuse to not stop, she will join the SLA :rotfl:

Hurrrah well done to Mrs TNG :j it's probably due to the smoking ban, I think people are more aware of their smoking habits now. Don't pressure her, but maybe drop subtle hints but make sure you don't get noticed cos then she may rebel (if she's anything like me
)
You stay on that soapbox hunny, AC was constantly on his and look at what a legend he was (and still is) - we all enjoy listening to what you have to say :ADFW Nerd no. 496 - Proud to be dealing with my debts!!0 -
