The Giving Up Smoking Thread!!

Its my quit day tomorrow  , day 10 of champix. Oh my god really nervous now as i feel so much pressure to quit tomorrow, ended up having a few ciggies last night after giving them to my partner, but had to go and get them back after 2 hours, i was climbing the walls. Only got about 6 ciggies left and when they are gone tonight that is it, no more smoking EVER.:j
Have got plenty of lollies and stuff in to nibble at, got my tangle to keep my hands busy, and got some games to play on the playstation that should take my mind off things if it gets too much. I think i have got just about everything covered, have told my ds to be on his best behaviour tomorrow as mum is giving up and i dont need the stress! Have told my partner to just bite his tongue if i snap at him and not to argue back. As hopefully i will be back to my usual self in a few days time, (apart from i may have to re-grow my hair after i have pulled it all out)!
Wish me luck and will let you all know how i am getting on tomorrow.
Good luck for tomorrow. Why not look forward to itNo more horrible smoke and smelly clothes. I must admit I used to dread my obligitory attempts to stop but when I stopped this time I actually looked forward to it.
Easy for me to say but hope you find it Ok tomorrow

Lula-Hula - Thanks for the virtual champagne
naomi234 - Good Luck for tommorrow... I am sure you will do fine.. Try not to think of it as your quit day - I did that the last time I tried to stop, and worried about it for weeks before hand! Just try to take each hour as it comes, thats my intention
feedumall - your proof it works - I hope you stick around. :T
*Jellie* - good luck with quitting!. People do do it cold turkey, I guess it depends on the amount you want this, and your willpower. (I am weak!). Either way - hope it goes well.
Kirsty- One ciggy all day - Great!!... Hope its going ok, and not too many cravings :T :T
A quick question - where can I get myself a tangle ?
Hope everyone has enjoyed their day xx

Welcome Jellie
Have you tried to stop before? Some people are able to stop cold turkey, others use NRT and some like myself use champix. What you choose has to be your decision as you know yourself best. Have a read through some of the posts and see if you can get and idea of what might help you
let us know how you get on:j Stopped smoking - 2nd Jan 09:j0 -
Hello everyone,
I am officially ashamed. Was doing so well (9 days) until b/f stayed last week end, he sat on the doorstep & I had a couple of puffs. It was horrible & I thought I was over it, then sunday we had a big cooked brekkie & before I'd even finished it I knew I had to have a cigarette.
Next thing I know I'm in the garden with a coffee in one hand & a cig in the other.
Was fine all day monday on the nicorette, b/f went home in the evening & I was quite happy. Tuesday I sponged one off a friend - still determined not to buy any. Wednesday I was fine all day. Thursday I had an initial assessment with a counsellor (depression) & by the time I'd given my life story - like interrogation of all your deepest fears & secrets - I just wanted to get home. Next thing I know I'm in the garden working my way through a pack of 10.
I had the last one earlier & I'm so angry at myself when I was doing so well so starting again tomorrow.
Any tips on dealing with stressful situations greatly appreciated.
Well done to everyone whose not as pathetic & weak willed as me
lula
Hi Lula,
Your post has been a very accurate summary of every attempt I've ever made to quit smoking. A coffee and a smoke in the back garden is such a heavenly thought.:D
I'm really not in a position to offer advice, other than I've been absolutely determined to quit this time, mainly because I've got two toes dropping off,  but I have found that resisting those "voices in your head" is almost impossible in the first couple of days, but once you have resisted, they're like bullies, they haven't got the stomach for a fight, and they're more easily beaten in days 3 and 4.
