well done to Lula and Doltage...
I'm shocked I'm on my 3week thingy today. I've had a couple of cravings but I think I've been kept so busy it's the only reason I've not had a chance to do anything about it lol.0 -

well done to all you non-smokers your doing great!
You are close to your quit day, I suspect you won't get as far as Friday before stopping! It maybe the realisation that you feel so ill after a ciggy that you simply can not have one (this is what happened to me)...I'm only on day 3 of not smoking and day 14 of Champix (I think), but it's amazing how it works.
I sailed through today (very busy at work), even missing going out with my still smoking colleagues for my choc/biscuit/apple break! But that's good, means my snack intake has reduced also!
Well done to everyone who's not smoked today and those celebrating milestones. :TBack on the DFW Wagon:

I'm on Champix and my Stop Smoking Counsellor gave me some very good advice/tips.
Always take with water and after food - less likely to suffer with any side effects
When you get to taking 2 tablets per day, take 12 hours apart
Take energy sweets to counteract any tiredness feeling
Start noting down every cigarette you have - it will either (a) make you think about whether you need it or want it and (b) by keeping a count on paper and checking vs. the fag packet you'll work out how many, if any, are 'unconscious' ciggies. These will then become conscious ones as each day passes.
Cut out some of the 'want' ciggies as you get further into Week 1, but not the need ciggies - though you should find you naturally smoke less (I actually forgot I smoked as the craving doesn't nag or remind you for a few hours at a time!)
You probably won't get to day 14 before you quit - reading the experiences on this thread, it happens earlier (I was day 11).
It's worked for me and others, but it still involves a degree of willpower. Certainly alot easier than other forms of quit I've tried (patches, cold turkey, etc) and having the Counsellor on board is really helping. I see him once a fortnight at his clinic and he phones me once a week inbetween to see how I'm doing.
I'd highly recommend it and wish you all the best with it. Keep us posted on your progess - I find it helps just to write down in here that I've stayed off them for another day and to read how others are doing, as I wouldn't want to let the side down.Back on the DFW Wagon:

Hi everyone
Thank you so much for letting me rant earlier (like you had a choice  )
Had a stress-filled day at work, putting in a submission for an industry award and nothing was going right for me!
Anyway, it all seems fine now, I didn't really want to smoke (although if I had been stood with a smoker I would have) I just wanted to be defiant and get away from it all...
Posting on here did the trick, went straight back to work and started sorting stuff out.
:T thanks to everyone for their thoughts, rude smileys, chocolate and ice cream (watch my hips feedum)
Wherever you are, if you are not smoking then keep it up :Tplease listen to MFD - she is a wise womanProud Mummy to the gorgeous Benjamin John born 14 March 2009, 8lbs 14ozA new little seedling on the way, due 30 September 20120 -

If you want to stop smoking it will work
You may feel sick for the first week, but please do try and carry on as it soon wears off. Very few people are really sick, most just suffer with nausea (as I did) but it does wear off quickly and for me once I was over the first week it wasnt a problem again.
When it came to two tablets I was taking one with my first cuppa and waiting till I had drank it before going for my first smoke of the day and the second one I popped at night just as I went to bed. No bad dreams at all. For me I found the best place to keep my pills were beside the bed so they were the first and last thing I reached for - no chance of finding the fags first
By day five you will notice you are rarely smoking and those that you are smoking you arent getting anything from in the way of a nice satisfying hit. By day 7 or 8 you will be glad your stopping day is on you.
Dont be scared as Honest for the first time ever when trying to quit I was really looking forward to quit day. Most over times Id be smoking like a trooper praying the morning wouldnt come - Champix changed that around for me
Good luck0 -
Your advice has really helped, thanks. Im actually excited about taking it! Sounds a bit mad but i want to stop and im really hoping that with champix i can do it this time. Will keep you updated!:j Stopped smoking - 2nd Jan 09:j0
