So many posts to catch up on, but so good to be amongst fellow quitters and supporters.

Day 7 of Champix and have cut out a few more, replacing them with the healthy options of a cereal bar, an apple and the not so healthy bar of chocolate - it was small, honest and bought in a multi-pack ;) and not the vending machine at work!

Saw my Stop Smoking Counsellor today - CO count down by 50% as hoped :T and he's pleased with my progress and avoidance plans/tactics. Finding it hard to inhale deeply now, soooo disgusting!

I will be joining the totally smoke-frees either Sunday or Monday - up to me to decide the quit day as I get into the higher dosage tomorrow and will see how things go.

Well done to everyone on another smoke free day.

Taxi-73, congrats on your Bingo win. That must feel great.

heart-free - Champix seems to be the easiest way to quit for me so far, very best of luck with yours.

Off to do dinner, cut the grass and any other job that keeps me busy!

Have a good evening all.

Loan - £12,063.84 as at 4/1/18

After 4 months I have returned here still with no joy. HELP!!

This is turning into a nightmare, I've tried nicoteine replacement which was no good, Hypnotherapy, and Champix from the doctor but I am to scared to even try to stop. I tried once a few years ago, and it sent me into black depression. I've just today finished Allen Carrs course and while it was very good and I believe what he says is all true but I am just to afraid to stop, infact as soon as its mentioned I want a cig straight away. If any of the methods are going to work I believe its Allen Carrs way, But I am sorry, I can't rejoice when I get a pang, I am so bad that I have only stopped 1hr and because I know this is it I want one, normally I can go a couple of hours without a fag and its doesn't annoy me

Help!!!!

Hi NI guy

Sorry to hear you are having problems. Try reading the first page again and Allen Carr several times. It took me Several readings for something to click.
The site that done it for me was
http://www.whyquit.com/ and then click on the left Brian lee curtis. Be warned as it is grim reading/viewing.
Not trying to use scare tactics and I know how difficult it is but Only you will know FOR DEFINATE when it is time to stop. Something will trigger a switch in your mind and then you will find it is time to not light a fag.

I wish you all the best and try not to look at it as giving up. Look at it as breaking free

YM's right NIGUY, I really do hate to be a party pooper but you have to really want to quit, and reading your post suggests to me that you don't at present. That's not to say that you don't follow YM's advice and keep reading AC and look at the website. I've managed to quit now for nearly 4 months but I can't really say why I've managed. It is just a state of mind.

It is really hard to stop, especially when you basically enjoy smoking. You just have to get your head around it that you definitely want to stop for yourself. I still find after four months that sometimes I really long for a smoke. Have nearly given in a few times and had one, but thankfully I didn't because I just know if I started again now that would be it, I would never even attempt to stop again.

You don't say how many a day you smoke or for how long you have been a smoker, which of course is a big consideration.

I know they say that it is advantageous to give up at any age, but to be honest if I had been older I wouldn't have bothered to stop because I didn't smoke that many anyway. Suppose I just had to keep the promise I made to myself and family that I would and could quit, didn't want to be dictated to by a little white stick.
Stopped smoking 27/12/2007, but could start again at any time

It is hard to stop.but it's not hard to enjoy the extra money, the better health, and the satisfaction it brings being smoke free,if you have doubts that you will be able to quit then you wont quit . i wont smoke not because i have great willpower ,but because enough is enough so i wont smoke again.day 26 tomorrow 520 ciggs not smoked now that makes me feel good.

I don't think you ever give up till you really want to .....no matter what you try.
I am on day 5 and still feeling really great about it all, this time I have passion about stopping and hopefully nothing will stop me in my quest!
