Yeah, I am looking forward to being able to actually have a sit down on my 15m breaks at work instead of running down the stairs and running back up.

Woo! Well done taxi, I have figured out that after just 2 weeks of no smoking, I will be able to afford the new tattoo I have been wanting for the last 7 months. I have 5 already, I'm only just 21, oops. Oh well.

Spend some of the money on a treat.

You are kidding me! Well done! I haven't been bingo in ages, used to go all the time with my mum and sisters, but living away from home I haven't been able to go.

So sorry to hear about your pet.Now you know you've cracked this no smoking lark as you didn't have a cig..so a huge well done there to you!!!
I haven't decided yet what to spend it on....I have won it twice since giving up smoking!!!!...I think somebody up above is looking after me...I am doing the house up at the moment as well as paying my debts off so really don't know...will think about it as it will take a few days to hit my account.

Hiya everyone, just found this thread GOOD LUCK to all those who have kicked the weed, (well they baccy bit anyway  ).

I just wanted to share my story to anyone bored enough to read it.

Started smoking at 13 years old because the lad I fancied asked me for a light and I didn't have one. He looked sooooooo grown up and cool blowing smoke rings like a goldfish right out of Borstal. I was determined to get him.

The first packet I bought was 5 Park Drive, my mate and i nipped round the back of the library and after puzzling over which end of an untipped ciggy to light, we finally went for it and it nearly killed us both.

However as truly vile and scary as the experience was I persevered until I could finally puff my way through a whole one without throwing up.

At the age of 14 and a half some older kids took the urine out of me because I didn't inhale (didnt even know there was such a thing). So I spent another while relearning how to suck it in right down to my lungs and not throw up (very attractive I am sure).

All n all I would say it took me about 6 months to a year for me to learn how to perfect the art without even so much as gagging and actually enjoy it. Of course by this time I had completely forgotten the name of the lad I first set out to impress but by then I was hook, line and stinkered.

And that was me for the next ahem years, I even managed to get as many as 30 a day into my wheezy chest (double that if I was out on the lash) but somehow felt less proud of the achievement than I did way back yonder.

I had several failed attempts but was not so bothered because I actually really enjoyed smoking.

Then about 3 and a half years ago my son came to me distraught. He was 13 years old and sobbing his heart out pleading with me to stop because he was terrified it would kill me. It was truly heartbreaking but did the trick.

I used patches to help me and it was the most difficult thing I have ever done yet also the most rewarding - eventually.

I have utmost respect for all of you who have taken this step, please take it from someone who enjoyed every last cigarette, this will be the best thing you will ever gift yourself yourself and your family and completely worth every feeling you are going through, every pound you gain in weight, every nail you chew down to the knuckle, every tear you may shed and every pillow you smash the face in of.

When i first gave up I downloaded some software and entered my details on a quit calculator on my pooter at work, I then switched to another pc but yesterday I had to use my old one and there it still was. I was completely gobsmacked to find that since I stopped I have not spent well over £9,000 on them, (which i have spent on holidays - last one hawaii and well worth it), I have not smoked 39,000 fags, and I have increased my life span by over 4 months (which i intend to spend in hawaii again). How amazing is all of that????

It can be so hard but so so worth it.

Keep at it and if for some reason you have a weak moment and light up, dont beat yourself up but allow it and try to get back on track instead of having to start from scratch much further down the line.

    Well done and good luck!!
