apart from that are we all well
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/main.jhtml?xml=/news/2008/04/18/nchampix118.xml
For my own reasons I believe the link between Champix and 'suicidal thoughts' is too small to even call it a link, 16 reported cases of 'suicidal thoughts' to the EMA, 200,000 people in the UK have been prescribed Champix, what percentage of people Europewide have had 'suicidal thoughts'?
I'd say we should get 20 ex-smokers from this thread to contact EMA and say we've felt an overwhelming urge to tickle a stranger on a bus and see if that will receive the same sensational headlines.
I'm not trying to make light of suicide in any way shape or form but I have huge problems with newspapers reporting tenuous links as facts for sales.destiny_star2006 wrote: »my hubby is on champix and stopped smoking completley after 1 week on the tablets hes now on second week of not smoking whilst taking the tablets but i wurry as hes realy moody and depressed not sleeping well at night and getting v bad stomach cramps i hate him taking medication lol but ovbiously its better than smoking x
I understand your worries and I can empathise but you've also got to understand that the last time I tried to stop smoking I went cold turkey and I was moody and depressed and not sleeping well at night, just because he is taking the medication it doesn't automatically follow that the medication is causing these 'side effects.'
He's depriving his body of a drug that he's been taking repeatedly on a daily basis for whatever amount of years, that's what is causing the 'side effects' most probably not the medication.
If you are still worried I'd make sure to talk to your other half, make him aware of just how proud you are of him and comunicate with him constantly and make sure he communicates right back at you, that way you'll be able to face any difficulties as a couple and you'll be able to beat them as a couple and if he still needs professional help get it as soon as possible and don't let his feelings fester.0 -
