The Giving Up Smoking Thread!!

Thanks for the words of encouragement...and Suki1964 I think you're right already about not getting to day 8 before wanting to stop! Only on day 2 - feel a little sick after about an hour of taking the tab (with food and water) and a little dizzy, but nothing I couldn't cope with.
The major thing is I didn't even think about wanting a ciggie for 3 hours today - pscyhological or the Champix kicking in already? Who knows, but whatever, I've smoked a fair few less than yesterday, which was less than the day before. Really bizarre, but also great!
Can't wait to see what happens tomorrow now!
Well done and congrats on (insert) versaries!Back on the DFW Wagon:

day twenty here i come:j that's 400 ciggs not smoked, and 95 pounds not spent. Does anyone know what percencage of ciggs price was tax would love to know how much tax iv'e saved:D .hope you have all had a good day carole x

That looks like 77% of the price of 20 is tax, or £4.33 from a packet of 20 costing £5.66 but that can't be true can it? I know that tax was high but didn't think it was that high!
Well done everyone, I'm drawing to the end of day 17 and feeling quite good about myself.
With regards to the posts above about what to do with the money saved I've been looking at treating myself to a spanking new 80GB ipod, I'm about 9 more smoke free days away from saving the money, which is a crazy amount of money to have been literally burning over the past 17 years
And just looking at that in cold hard words has convinced me that as as soon as day 28 hits I'm putting my grubby little paws into my smoking jar and going to treat myself!
Hope everyone had a good day today, lots of smoke free vibes to everyone.0 -
Right I have decided that my me no smoking money is going to pay for invisible braces to give me lovley straight teeth and then while they are working I am going to save up and get my eeth whitened.Just been looking it up now and I have a dentist appointment tomorrow so will talk to my dentist about it tomorrow. This will help me never to start smoking again too I think. I am on 23 days and counting. Woo Hoo!!! That's a great idea...had mine done privately when I was 20-something and it was such a confidence boost to be able to smile widely with perfect teeth. Good luck tomorrow!
I'm saving for a bathroom re-fit at the moment, so have decided that as I will have time to spare through not smoking (let's say 10 cigs at 5 mins each per eve = 50 mins)...I could upgrade to a whirlpool/jacuzzi type bath. Oh to lay there and not think "will get out in a mo, want a ciggie"and have that warm water bubbling away.

Roll on Saturday (big quit day)
You're in the right place. Loads of support and advice available. It's not easy but you can do it with some real determination. Nearly done 11 weeks now, so feeling really chuffed. 2 more weeks for 3 months!
Good luck and we'll all look forward to seeing how you are doing,

mfd my monthiversary is on the 25th, Yippe!! Cant wait.
I still have not decided what to do with the money I have saved up. My BF says I should spend it on myself but I cant bring myself to go near it. Also I think I should be paying my debts off with it. What are you guys doing with the money you have saved???
Hi Bellie,
Well done so far.
We have managed to get rid of £700 OD in 3 months, saved about £200 and got enough to get dog's nuts off (he won't be too chuffed about that!). Mind you we have been strict about the drinking as well. Nicotine and alcohol deprivation at the same time:eek:
Good luck and enjoy your savings.

Just a quick idea of anyone thinking of giving up their quit.
Last night I was cold, so I grabbed my smoking top and wore that in bed for 30 mins. I took it off, smelt my skin and thought eww.
Easy way to remind yourself how you smelt as a smoker0
