Hiya slates - :T Well done for making day 3.
As far as getting easier is concerned it is different for everyone...for me day 4 was a pig then 5-9 okay but 10 and 11 were mean.
What I can tell you though is it definitely DOES get easier - hang in there.please listen to MFD - she is a wise womanProud Mummy to the gorgeous Benjamin John born 14 March 2009, 8lbs 14ozA new little seedling on the way, due 30 September 20120 -

FiBe - you had better tell me whether you are a lad or a laydee cos I get a little confuzzled (is this the right time to tell carpetbelly I thought he was a woman too??) :T
We're in this together!!
I would be a laydee lol
Ok so Day 1 of not smoking for the fifth time in my life. Times 1-3 weren't too bad in that I didn't really have any cravings and (un)successfully stopped for over 3 months. I caved under stress pressure thoughTime 4 was a waste of time as I think I lasted 10 days if that.
I admit to being slightly irritable and on edge, whereas I am aiming for calm and serene :shhh:.
If I'm honest I only became smoke free because I can't afford it....................... I liked smoking ........................... work and nights out are going to be the hardest. Work it is a social thing where everyone catches up and is a break from the computer or when you are feeling stressed so it's going to be a hard habit to break
Ok think of the things I didn't like about smoking:
1. Going outside to have a fag in the freezing cold and rain
2. My nicely new decorated rooms slowly turning yellow
3. The smell on me and my clothes
4. The nicotine stains on my fingers which I needed to scrub off and my teeth
5. That it ages you (yes I am that vain)
6. The price of cigarettes
7. Not being able to smoke in pubs
....................... erm can't think of any more.HSBC Unsecured Loan current total £11,921, Amazon Credit Card £355 (will be cleared in March 2009)
Challenges 2009: Overpay mortgage by £9.00 per month at least, Save £30 per month, Win: 1. Nice Laptop 2. Nintendo DS 3. Holiday to New York or San Francisco, 10p/20p Challenge0 -
Well done to Redkelly, Slates and any other potential non-smokers who are lurking here looking for motivation, say hello and make yourself known, we don’t bite, well, not much
Come on here early and often and you’ll find people at all stages of quitting who are experiencing or have experienced everything you’re going through and their advice will help you get through the day.
Also, be proud of yourself-come along here and shout from the rooftops that you’re not smoking and we’ll join you in shouting!
Bellie, a reply should’ve reached you by now, thanks!
Hope everyone’s well this morning, I’m tip-top, :j I’ve gone two weeks without smoking :j and I’m over the moon with myself so thought I’d blow my own trumpet
Go me, I rock
Thanks a million to everyone on here, the support you give is amazing and really has helped me through some of the darker moments and has been much appreciated :T0 -

There's far more to dislike than to like, FiBe
If you stopped for three months previously with few/little cravings, then if you get your mindset right, you CAN quit permenantly. Nobody likes smoking, they just talk themsleves in to believing that they do
Read some of the stuff in jo's first post and look at some of JoeHel's posts earlier in this thread. Go to whyquit website. Just get a real understanding of it. It will help!
Morning others
Congrats MFD :T :T :T - great achievementNeigh, neigh, and thrice neigh

I'm going to guess that if you hadn't tried to stop before you'd be in the minority of one, I think we've all tried in the past to break this cycle and you're doing well to have tried again. 3 months is a long time to go without them so hopefully you can do better than that, but just take it one step at a time, don't set yourself any targets which will make it seem impossible.
As you mention that work is social, try and break that habit as well*, you don't want to be putting yourself into situations where you'll be tempted to smoke, try during your next break to align yourself with the non-smokers, instead of having a coffee/tea have a glass of water, try and break the connections between your breaks and smoking.
Most of all keep your chin up, it's difficult to stop and your colleagues (most of whom will have tried to stop in the past and will be secretly jeaous that you're stopping) should offer you help and support as you try and stop, if they don't offer it come on here and whinge and there'll be somebody along shortly to reply to you and to offer support.
/edit
*Of course, I'm not advocating not going to work, that's one habit I'd love to break, but when at work try and vary your breaks etc.0 -

You would have to prove me wrongSuppose it had to happen at some point!! or possibly you're the exception that proves the rule? I'm clutching at straws here, serves me right for tarring everyone with the same brush!
Back to lurking for me!
(not really of course, just being an idiot, in one of those moods)0
