My sleeping pattern's been all over the place since last week, wide awake at night but can't keep my eyes open during the day, it's got so bad I've started running on the treadmill again-drastic measures indeed!

Enjoy your relaxing day Bellie, i'm not jealous at all pinocchio.gif

I've got an appointment next Monday at the doctors to start a course of Champix. Not sure if they'll work but both me and OH are gonna give it a go.

Just thought I'd introduce myself early, before I actually give up, and hopefully muster up a bit of support on here! :hello:

I'm new to this thread, but need a little help.

I gave up smoking on 2nd Jan this year. Decided to stop, and just stopped without any 'help' (patches, gum etc).

Have done really well I think, apart from gaining a few pounds (and saving a few!).

Anyway, the thing is, my 2 kids are both away tonight and I have the house to myself for the first time ever. All I've been thinking about for the last couple of days is getting a 10 pack and standing outside all evening. I can't stop thinking about it!

    Hi ***xyz***

I agree with Feedumall, don't do it!!

You've done so well to get to this point with no patches/gum etc. it's a testament to your willpower that you've lasted until now without a major cirsis like you're having now and you'll need a little bit more willpower to make it through this evening.

To help you through the evening make sure to think more about why you stoppped in the first place, why you've stayed off them for so long, think of the money you're not spending on them, think of how upset you'll be tomorrow if you do smoke, think of anything to get your mind off the damn fags!!

As already said, come on here and post, doesn't matter if you post all night long about being narky, wanting a fag or whatever but there's always somebody on this thread who'll be able to listen to you and will offer any help that they can.

    Keep us up to date.

Well done again on lasting from January until now with not smoking, that's a phenomonal achievement

    /edit

Welcome to the freash aired non-smoking thread Heart_free + OH, hope you enjoy your time with us!

I've been using Champix for almost four weeks and been smoke-free for two weeks, I really think Champix is great, my cravings haven't been 'out of control' and they passed quite quickly as long as I keep my mind elsewhere (boredom's a big downfall for me!) and I would recommend it to anyone!

I wouldn't worry too much about the reported side effects, usually, mood swings, lack of sleep, etc as I'm pretty sure they come from depriving your body of nicotine so I wish you and OH the very best of luck and hopefully you'll stick around and keep us up to date with how you're getting on!

I've just found out that I'm expecting so have given up the deadly weed....

I went to see the Anti-smoking nurse at my docs surgery and she's given me patches (apparently they are safe when pregnant or at worst safer than smoking)

Bonus is as I ahve my maternity exemption I didn't ahve to even pay for the prescription. She gave me loads of really useful advice about what to snak on etc...i.e Fruit cut up into chunks to help with that hand to mouth thing...and changing my routine so that I don't smoke when i would normally would....

Day one and i'm feeling good I usually would have smoke at least 5 by this time today but i've made it past my lunch break and i'm really chuffed with myself...

I've decided that I'm going to put £5 in a bug jar every day and spend it all on the baby when She/He arrives...! I'm so excited...!!

My other half has also kindly decided to be my quitting buddy so between the two of us we'll be saving £10 per day !! this baby will be spoiled rotten!!

WooHoo, a wee baby Flaura coming into a smoke free environment, congrats to you and OH, hope it all goes well for you, I'd imagine being told your [STRIKE]up the spout[/STRIKE] with child would be quite the motivator, is it?

*Of course, I'm not advocating not going to work, that's one habit I'd love to break, but when at work try and vary your breaks etc.

Ahhh would be nice to not have to work *shakes head to wake out of dream mode*

Don't have official breaks at work anyway so under no pressure to join smokers etc. Although I am pleased to report that someone offered me a cigarette at lunch time and I turned it down (and he owed me 3 as well)!!!!!

Am not doing too badly really considering I am cold turkeying. Like I said just a bit on edge occasionally  :naughty: lol

    *I am taking a bow for refusing a free cigarette* :T :j
