Feeling very weepy today-which isn’t good for a 6ft tall burly bloke!!

Noticed you got that in before MFD starts :D

Well done doltage, don't worry about the weepy thing.. you're losing a "big" part of what's made up your life, and your body and mind needs time to adjust (does that make sense??)

done on making it to day 2 :T , can't promise it will get easier in the short term but one day it will.

Are you doing anything to get you through the cravings??? deep breathing, chewing gum etc???

Chewing gum, recording my cravings in a diary and also getting out my phone to text somebody to complain about the cravings and then not sending the msg, just to have my hands doing something

    It does of course, thanks!

I'm not expecting it to get any better over the next few days but I'm determined to see it through to notice the feelings get better-now stop being nice to me lol
  • Doltage - you came to the right place if you want someone to moan at when the cravings come - there is usually someone knocking around and we don't even mind if you post your messages. We are all here for venting!!

Has anybody had any thoughts about how they are going to wean themselves off the MSE Smoking Thread??? Sometimes I think I have swapped one addiction for another (although at least this one won't kill me!)

Waspeze - I thought you were a lady before the Les Mis conversation ;) maybe it's that wasp...is it wearing mascara??? ;) :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

I found with the patches it was like my mouth had a coating that I couldn't get rid off (seemed worse if I put a patch on my arm but that might have been all in my head lol). Nothing tasted right so I can see that it might put you off eating. Personally I started taking my patch off before eating at night to make my meal taste normal!
I haven't worn a patch since Sunday now and I am doing okay without them so far (got one in my bag in case of cravings / stress)

NOTHING will ever put me off my coffee

Day 4 is a fab acheivement - can be a stinker of a day though lol - good luck, we're here if you want support. :T

My hunger pangs have been up and down, one minute starving and the next just can't face food, so not just you :)

I can't do that, my scatter brain may just text what I meant to post and post what I meant to text, could be horrid all round :p

I really wasn't prepared for the 'emotional' upheavel though, thought I was well prepared, the nurse I've been visiting has been wonderful and very helpful.

I've a wedding to go to on Saturday as well, kinda apprehensive about that, on the one hand I'm looking forward to saying "No thanks, I don't smoke" when invited out for a cig but I'm also very wary of getting rat a*sed and convincing myself that I'm only having a sneaky one, I can lead myself astray very easily :D luckily I've all my family and 'er indoors primed to keep me on the straight and narrow!

    Wow, that's some serious lurking!
  • Doltage - it is like losing the most important thing in your life, you would have done anything to make sure you had that thing and now you are trying to convince yourself you don't want it anymore. You need to grieve - it's sad but it's very true.

Wth regard to the wedding, it's a toughie, I have been mostly staying away from social stuff til I am strong enough, but you can't miss a wedding can you?

What I would say is try not to drink too much. Easy to say and not so easy to do I know but the more you drink the more likely you are to cave in - this could be your chance to shine!

Having said that I would probably go, get p1ddled as a newt and end up threatening someone to give me a fag or feel my wrath!
