Hi guys,
A very sad and confused MFD here.
I went to see the nurse this afternoon and as you all know I am very proud of going 17 days without a cigarette. I went in very pleased with myself and came out in tears
I blew into the CO2 monitor and my count was 9!!!! It was 6 the first time I went (it was a Friday and I had smoked 2 cigarettes that morning) and it was 3 the second time I went (Tuesday, 2 weeks ago, after I had had a 'blow-out' of 10 cigarettes on the Saturday before I stopped on the Sunday).
I have to say I am gutted, devastated and genuinely very bemused. I blew in the machine about 5 times in total, the nurse even did one to check that it was working.
How can it be that I can go 17 days without a cigarette and have a higher CO2 rating than before????
Poor DH didn't know what to do when I came in in floods of tears, I feel so cheated after working so hard. We have been to B&Q to buy a CO2 monitor for the house and my car - it is the only thing I can think of...
I haven't smoked, I haven't even stood next to a smoker, I don't know what is going on - it even crossed my mind that I have been kidding myself
I have been feeling so good, what a kick in the teeth.please listen to MFD - she is a wise womanProud Mummy to the gorgeous Benjamin John born 14 March 2009, 8lbs 14ozA new little seedling on the way, due 30 September 20120 -

She didn't seem to know taxi - she said she believed me (she is the wife of someone I know through work - not that that makes any difference).
She seemed shocked (although not as shocked as me) she said that someone had used the machine earlier and got 78 and maybe that was still inside - but when mine didn't come down after another 2 attempts she tried herself and she got a 1 so it wasn't the machine.
She asked if I had been out on site a lot (I work in highway construction so it could follow that if I had been exposed to a lot of traffic fumes then it would still be high) but I haven't been on a site for any period of time since I quit (a lot of our sites close over easter).
She asked if there was any other way that I could be exposed to carbon monoxide - well there is the central heating and the car...please listen to MFD - she is a wise womanProud Mummy to the gorgeous Benjamin John born 14 March 2009, 8lbs 14ozA new little seedling on the way, due 30 September 20120 -

well done on a week Bellie..you must be so proud.
MFD I really don't know what to say..if you've been walking a lot I guess it could happen also or perhaps those machines aren't even reliable.
Have you installed your co2 detectors in the house and read them yet?0
