waspeze - try using this tough time to think about how much cigarettes actually ruled your life before you quit. You will be thinking about them constantly now - the fact is you probably always were...any of these sound familiar
'I'll just do this then I will have a cig'
'I am visitng x later and I can't smoke at their house, so I will have a cig (before I go??) then (one on the way??) and then (I will leave after x long)...'
If it is not one of the above it will be something else - we have been changing our lives to fit in the cigarettes for years so it is natural that we think about them all the time.
A couple of my terrible habits were:
- having a cigarette before I left the house (my 'going out' cigarrette) and then lighting up another in the car!!!
- waving goodbye to DH as he took DSS home, then rushing outside for cigarette because if I timed it right I could have (and enjoy smoking) 3 before he got back.
- always suggesting a 5 minute 'comfort break' about an hour into a meeting so I could go outside for a fag
You will begin to think about it less and less, bu you need to stay strong and remember why you are quitting in the first place.
I'm off to see nursie this afternoon - and I am looking forward to blowing into the machine for the first time (although if it is not 0 I think I will cry)
Don't beat yourself up if you don't get 0! I was told its rare to get 0 (even non-smokers).
Also your post about you habits are so true for me too, I think we all built smoking into our routines and now its gone the routine has changed. Like the 1st thing in the morning fag, the after food fag, the bedtime fag.... and so on.

Definitely agree..
Always had my morning ciggie, drive to work ciggie, two lunchtime ciggies and then a drive home one... then the evening starts:hello:Save a little money each month and at the end of the year you’ll be surprised at how little you have.An eye for an eye only ends up making the whole world blind0 -
Right.. I got to the doctors this morning and this guy actually listen to me and agreed to give me 3 weeks worth of patches (last time I spoke to a doctor he refused and only willing to sign me up to counseling)
So I got 2 weeks on step 2 and 1 weeks patches on step 3.
Had "my last fag" at 10.15 this morning before I went out and been wearing a patch since 11.00.
Haven't felt any cravings yet only giddiness and nausea.
Big thank you to My fathers daughter and Waspeze for your supportive message and to Sue-UU for the long message you PM'd me
My husband laughed a bit over the day I picked to quit smoking on but he said he is really proud of me and promised to help.0 -

gp - welcome aboard :T
The biggest fool on April Fools Day is the one with a cigarette in their hand
You may find that you can work with the patches so they cover your worst cravings but you don't wear them all the time.
When I started the patches made me feel a bit urgh so I started taking them off in the evening (when I found it easiest not to smoke) to give my body a bit of time to recover and to start to ease me off the nicotine in my own way (trying to get a bit of control over myself!)
If you are fine during the day maybe you can wait until the cravings start to stick your patch on???
Horses for course I guess - whatever is best for you
Oh - and whilst I think about it, have you had a chat with your hubby about exactly what/how you want him to support you? It made a massive difference to me when I did this and DH still duly says 'I'm proud of you darling' when I say 'Day 16 for me today'
Have this conversation BEFORE you reach the monster stage and you may both make it out alive :cool:please listen to MFD - she is a wise womanProud Mummy to the gorgeous Benjamin John born 14 March 2009, 8lbs 14ozA new little seedling on the way, due 30 September 20120 -
