I've added that bit to the first post.

If any of you want to add anything to the first post let me know, links, books, or things you've discovered that is great about not smoking that you didn't realise before?
Just add that beer tastes better. What greater incentive
Nearly there! Been struggling for 7 years but the results are showing. :j
  • mumzy - going upstairs is a great idea, just for a while you need to break your patterns and habits.

It is completely natural to panic, we have been relying on our cigs for a long time - 4 years for you, 16 for me

Just keep taking one step at a time, believe me it does get easier (not sure I would have said that yesterday but I got though it lol)

I remember reading somewhere that cravings only last for 3 minutes (probably nonsense but humour me) so what I do is I refuse to act on anything for 5 minutes...I won't even say I need a cig for 5 minutes, then wait another 5 minutes before I let myself say it again etc.

It's a bit obsessive but it works for me lol - suppose I am that kind of person. By the time I get to 5, 5 minute stints of saying I want a cig I have bored myself stupid and I don't want one any more...god knows what I would do if I did

Keep it up - you are doing fab!

    Morning all,

LMTP just wanted to back up what Ageing Biker said, you will not want to smoke on day 8. (Although I have two friends on Champix and one quit at 6 weeks and the other is still smoking on day 14).

Also have you managed to cut down on smoking since you started taking Champix? I went from 20 to 5/10 a day. I felt like I was making myself smoke in that first week on Champix.

I've tried everything in the past and Champix has been great for me. I feel sick when I smell smoke or smell it on people, don't know if that's a good thing but at least it puts me off smoking. Can't believe I used to smell like that all the time, yuck!!!
    Quit Day - 12/03/08
    Over £200 saved so far!
    Thanks to Champix!
  • well since I got up at 7ish its gone from lovely bright frosty morning to !!!!ing down so much for my plans

Congratulations Mumzy! I think you said you had been buying 40 cigs a day between you and OH... just keep thinking of the £3000+ that you'll not be spending on cigs over the next year and how that will impact on debts and what you can get the kids. You can do it :)
