Well done Jo you are coping really well :T hope you manage to get kids looked after next week - can you get them into a before and after school club for the time being ? ( sorry not sure of your kids ages ) or call in a few favours from other mums

Tealady, I think now I've quit the fags I'm going to move onto the biccies and alcohol, gotta have something to be addicted to huh, what a shame that as lovely as fresh fruit smoothies are I've never found them addictive
Oops, you're still doing great and been the gym, well done you!! Plus £17.12 saved(kinda), I've saved £22.40 although I've not put any of it away, wished I could but the reason I started this is because I couldn't make my salary last the month so I've not actually seen any of this money. But I know I'm not spending any unnecessary money so it must be going to good use!!
My kids are 15, 4 and 1. Son (4yr old) goes to nursery in the afternoon not full time school yet and obviously my 1yr old daughter doesn't go anywhere at the moment so we need someone to look after them pretty much all day. I've got a 9-5 job but my husband works on shifts so depends on what rota he's on.
Quick question....I really want to download the quit meter thing but as I don't use my laptop at home much, only an hour or so at the weekend it seems pointless. So if downloaded it on my work pc does it flash up on the desktop kinda thing when you log on or do you have to sign in first? Don't really want my boss seeing it iykwim?
Right, nearly lunch time here, don't know what to have. Should be good and save money but fancy summat nice today. Think I'm going to be kind to myself this week as I'm not smoking, maybe a cheese and coleslaw jacket potato and a walk along the River and watch the boats to walk it off.
Have a nice afternoon!

Three cigarettes left, I'm going to the pub now to enjoy them.

My OH has been going on at me for ages, to the extent that she's boring me into it!!!
Good look to everyone.
I'll save my fiver a day and then i'll spend it on cocktails in the Maldives. If you can keep your head, when all around you are losing theirs. You have underestimated the seriousness of the situation!!!0 -
Ooooh welcome Ringers and well done!!
Enjoy your last 3 in the pub, I'm not jealous or anything
Look forward to hearing your progress!!

Back from the pub.
Now an ex-smoker!!!! :jIf you can keep your head, when all around you are losing theirs. You have underestimated the seriousness of the situation!!!0 -
I gave up nearly 7 months ago after a 3rd friend died suddenly in the space of less than 12 months. I had smoked for over 30 years and considered myself to be a totally hopeless case, I would not go to bed at night if I had no baccy for when I woke up ( I would go out to an 24 hours petrol station to get some). Sometimes I would wake up during the night and immediately have to get up and have a fag - I was well addicted. As I said at the beginning of this post, 3 friends died suddenly and they all were heavy smokers, youngest was 49 oldest was 55. I thought of the effect of me passing on would have on my wife, went out and bought patches and have not smoked since!
I guess the message from me is - if I can do it, so can you0 -
:T good on you Ringers :T keep in touch and let us know how you are getting on.
Jo DO NOT put silk quit onto your work computer - its on my personal one and does flash up as soon as I log on and even when my daughter is using the computer under her username - she announced the other day I had 3 1/2 hours to live  I corrected her that it was 3 1/2 hours MORE to live
Sundancer - I must admit I always ensured I had cigarettes in the house for the next day. Well done on quitting and staying stopped. Thats my problem, staying stopped. I have quitted quite a few times but always seem to 'just have one' then that leads to another, then I start buying packs of 10 and then 20, then start smoking in the house again and thats it Im hooked
must stay stopped must stay stopped must stay stopped must stay stopped
One of the reasons that I have packed in and am so embarassed to admit it is that my DD keeps getting accused of smoking at school because her clothes smell of my cigarettesI know she doesnt smoke but she is getting into trouble and that makes me a terrible mother - not to mention the second hand smoke thing. I am just going to remind myself of that everytime I get a craving.
Hope everybody else in managing alright today - still havent read that Alan carr book :rotfl::cool: Official DFW Nerd Club Member #37 Debt free Feb 07 :cool:0 -
Well done Ringers!! Your OH will be well pleased with you....better warn her bout the moods though
Sundance, thanks for posting...well done for giving up for such a long time after being such a confirmed smoker. Stick around and give us some more inspiration!!
Oops, I am also thinking about the kids when I get a craving. Hopefully if I don't smoke then they will be less likely to later in life. I know my eldest can't stand the smell of smoke, but I think I was the same and peer pressure made me start, I thought I looked so cool  .....I don't think so!!!
