    Hi guys :)
Any quick advice for Mum (70) who's thinking about quitting?
She's bought some 'Nicorette something'. I asked if she couldn't get FREE help from the doctors, she said she'd have to wait, fill in forms and go back to see a nurse, so it put her off. Any other way she can get stop smoking aids cheap?

She also get's 2 relatives visiting daily, both smoke. How's she supposed to quit when both are puffing away? I don't smoke, but Personally, I wouldn't dare do it in front of someone who's quitting. I'm not sure Mum would even ask them not to smoke.
Is there anything I could do to help Mum? I was thinking something of the lines of 'I'll give you £100 if you manage to quit'.

Is there anything that can help with the horrible cough she gets in the morning - it sounds really sore :(
    Any advice greatly appreciated.

    Hi rancid-a,

I'm sending a PM full of helps and support, but there will still be plenty of both (and lots more) here on the board. I sincerely hope you get your wish for her good health.

    Love and hugs, Sue.

    Morning all!

Adz - Great stuff! Well done, keep going it's a great feeling!

Sue - Thanks for your endless supply of encouragement! You are great!

Well day 10 and all is well, was just thinking this morning, when i was on day 7 i had this horrible metal taste in my mouth all day, everything i ate or drank tasted disgusting, that is one aspect of this quit that i wish would stay with me! lol

Got hubby one of those inhalators yesterday, he has an abcess in his mouth so chewing the nico gum wasn't helping his mouth.

    Have a fantastic day everyone!!

    Michaela

Don't know if I'm welcome back...

    ...but

The German came 1st March and went last Sat (8th March) he's the reason I gave up.

    & I'm fine thanks
  • Evening all healthier, wealthier people.

    Hope you are all well.

Had a great smoke free day. Week 6 now and have started to replace the Nicorettes with ordinary gum. Am aiming to be off the nicotine in 5/6 weeks, though will keep some with me for those crisis moments where I have failed in the past.

Well done to all for keeping going, and don't forget to 'fess up if you err and come back for support. I know we all want to do this and I enjoy having the support of you all.

    Hugs

    Mark

    Evening all

Well done Mark! Week 6 eh..... keep the faith
I tried the gum for the first 2 days then decided to go cold turkey, i chew ordinary gum and it works well.

Quiet on here today, hope everyone is keeping the faith!!

Hi Adz, Of course you're welcome back! I think it's great that you did come back and admit your slip up, but you're back in there again now, that's all that counts. Try your best to stay with it, you'll certainly get all the support you need here.

Good going still, Michaela! Your hubby has my sympathy with the abcess, horrible things, darned painful too. Good luck to him with the inhalator and wish him all the best please.

What a saving kyh! A good link there for all those who need it, but look how far ahead you all are - especially you Mark, I'm so very chuffed for you.

Have a fantastic day everyone and keep thinking lovely thoughts at 'those' times!

    Love and more hugs, Sue.
