Everyone is doing really well, well done!
Just hit a 2 week milestone (think its tomorrow) of my god knows how many quit. Feeling pleased with myself

Hi guys
Any quick advice for Mum (70) who's thinking about quitting?
She's bought some 'Nicorette something'. I asked if she couldn't get FREE help from the doctors, she said she'd have to wait, fill in forms and go back to see a nurse, so it put her off. Any other way she can get stop smoking aids cheap?
She also get's 2 relatives visiting daily, both smoke. How's she supposed to quit when both are puffing away? I don't smoke, but Personally, I wouldn't dare do it in front of someone who's quitting. I'm not sure Mum would even ask them not to smoke.
Is there anything I could do to help Mum? I was thinking something of the lines of 'I'll give you £100 if you manage to quit'.
Is there anything that can help with the horrible cough she gets in the morning - it sounds really sore
Any advice greatly appreciated.

OK confession time - came back rom the wedding last night having been really good all day. Hubby and little one fast asleep upstairs so had a sneaky steal of one of hubbys cigs and do you know what
IT TASTED DISGUSTING AND I THREW IT AWAY!!!!
It feels great to be able to say that - who would have thought in just a week!
So although I am going to keep on withthe patches to help wwith the nicotine addiction etc I am officially a NON SMOKER!!!
Yipeeee!!! That's a heck of a breakthrough kyh!!! You're well on your way to where you want to be when they taste foul and look at the money saved.....so far! You also Adz!!!

Well day 10 and all is well, was just thinking this morning, when i was on day 7 i had this horrible metal taste in my mouth all day, everything i ate or drank tasted disgusting, that is one aspect of this quit that i wish would stay with me! lol
Got hubby one of those inhalators yesterday, he has an abcess in his mouth so chewing the nico gum wasn't helping his mouth.

Evening all healthier, wealthier people.
Hope you are all well.
Had a great smoke free day. Week 6 now and have started to replace the Nicorettes with ordinary gum. Am aiming to be off the nicotine in 5/6 weeks, though will keep some with me for those crisis moments where I have failed in the past.
Well done to all for keeping going, and don't forget to 'fess up if you err and come back for support. I know we all want to do this and I enjoy having the support of you all.

I tried the gum for the first 2 days then decided to go cold turkey, i chew ordinary gum and it works well.

Hi Adz, Of course you're welcome back! I think it's great that you did come back and admit your slip up, but you're back in there again now, that's all that counts. Try your best to stay with it, you'll certainly get all the support you need here.
Good going still, Michaela! Your hubby has my sympathy with the abcess, horrible things, darned painful too. Good luck to him with the inhalator and wish him all the best please.
