Well done TattyCath, nice one.
Thanks for all your messages. Support on here is so encouraging. Going see my pharmicist tomorrow to start week 6. Have managed 2 weeks with zero carbon monoxide showing on the monitor so hoping for a good result again.
Keep going all and keep posting.
Good luck

Michaela - well done we have both made a week!
MFD -don't worry about the blip just get back on the wagon with us!!
Mark -congrats on 5 weeks - the extra money is great isn't it!!
Sue - thanks for helping us all with your support!
Well day 7 today, went to the clinic last night for my weekly chat and to get my new patches. £36.75 saved so far! Tomorrow will be hard as I am going out socially for the first time to a wedding - might have to take my knitting to keep my hands busy - do you think the bride would be offended?!
KYH
KYH - if you're wearing anything with a pocket then put something in to 'play' with ie. keys or something comforting - you think as I daren't suggest....not on here!!!;) Seriously though, make it something you can fiddle with and keep your fingers busy, maybe something squidgey to press one way then the other and so on. Or perhaps pick up a serviette and pretend to be trying to practice origami!!
Good luck and let them see how well you're doing - you may even start others thinking about kicking it all too. Now THAT would be another terrific achievement!!!
Hi all, you're more than welcome for the help and support as having been where you all are now, I fully realise the difficulties and am enjoying being able to help. However, you each sound so very determined and determination's what you need in abundance. Rossy and KYH congratulations on reaching that vital first week Ciggie Free! It's such a wonderful achievement of which you should both be delighted with, it'll spur you on for next week too! Brilliant again Mark, and I'm so pleased you think of all those precious to you when the cravings kick in, us here too! The money you've saved is such a great bonus!
All that I've said to KYH above re fiddling with something will help you all, especially those in the infancy of quitting. A biro is a great hand/fingers entertainer, so are keys or one of the Rubik cubes, anything that distracts from ciggies and keeps you focused, such as a crossword, whether you normally do them or not.
Have a great weekend all and keep it up - you KNOW you can win!

Hi all
sorry I haven't been around of late.......
Unfortunately Mrs Lurks was told that she was 'at risk' of being made redundant, so promptly went out and bought ten  Smoked them all in the night (to wash down the copious quantity of alcohol, presumably). She'd been doing SO well (a number of months!), too
Personally, I am more upset about this than her job TBH. Jobs come and go, but your health......
Well, looks like you'll be seeing more of her around here than me :rotfl:
Anyhoo - well done to all stoppers (all new since I was around last- except tattycath ). You are all doing brilliantly well. Keep going!!!!

Oh I had a crisis yesterday - a bl***y lorry ran into the back of me as I was waiting to pull out onto a roundabout. Really shook me up, I was OK, but my poor little car has no back window and is all pushed in
Exactly the same thing happened to me a year ago - think I must have a bullseye on the back of my car with a big sign saying DRIVE INTO ME!
Anyway, sorry to rant on, but the point is the lorry driver got straight out of his cab and lit up a ciggie and OMG could I have done with one then. I almost snatched it out of his hand and then thought I would ask him for one, but no, I reasoned with myself just how is smoking a fag going to make the situation any better? and of course it wouldn't have.
So I have got through that without caving in and I am now nearly at 11 weeks:T
So to all of you out there, you can do it, you don't need a fag to get you through stressful situations.Stopped smoking 27/12/2007, but could start again at any time :eek:0 -
Well done Melbury, you did really well. You should be really proud of yourself!!! I'm proud of you for not caving in. Well done to everyone else too.

Hello to you jo1072. Hello Lurkio, nice to meet you.

Woohoo, got zero again on the carbon monoxide monitor! 3rd week running.
Well done Michaela, when's my veg box arriving?!
Stopped for a pint (and a half) on my way home and met a guy who gave up smoking 14 months ago on the advice of his doctor because they wanted him to reduce his weight from 25st. He now weighs 33st; so much for the wonderful NHS. I've agreed to keep in touch with him and help him with dieting now as I have a firm belief that to lose weight you need to change your eating style and not do one of those faddy diets. Hannah has followed my advice (finally) and is happily losing on average a pound a week (for 14 months now) and still has choccy, booze etc. Week 6 now of no smoking and still weigh the same as when I started, hoping to continue this.
Thanks to all for your support. We can do this.
Hugs for you all
