    Hi All

I'm not quitting the weed now...as I need to do the alcohol first. However I set myself a goal that I would quit the weed later this year..when i went on holiday (planned for April May purely for the purpose of giving up...long haul flights to the sun are my incentive!!!.... and still sticking to this)

I did give up for about 3 years once.....(over 10 years ago) ....and I found natural licorice root (i.e. the real twig...not the black processed stuff) was really helpful (the chewing of it...the stick like quality.....plus it helped keep me regular which I found was a big prob when I gave up!!). Just a thought!!

So good luck all....keep going...much willpower and success to you all...and see you on this thread in a couple of months!!

Hi Michaela and all other non smokers!!

Day 4 for me to and it does seem better than yesterday! Silly Cow (what a name!) - thanks for the advice might give it a try - have been popping into other peoples offices for a break and coming on here helps! Wow I just typed ciggy instead of break and had to correct it - talk about on the brain!!

I transfered the money I have saved so far into my savings account yesterday and will do so again today - nice to see that increasing every day!!!

Keep strong everyone - Mumzy - can you get away with leaving your purse at home so you are not tempted to buy any? Have you got a money box to put the cash in every day then at the end of the week can you buy yourself a treat/pay a debt with it?? I am on patches and they are helping - I know they seem expensive but they are a darn sight cheaper than cigarettes!!

    Good Luck

  • MFD- 1 blip REALLY doesnt matter- compare it to how much you would normally smoke!
To confirm - I wentto my smoking nurse today and she tested the carbon monoxide in my blood. On 22/1/08 it was 29 (apparently very bad- in danger of getting smoking related diseases) and today, 4/3/08, it was 1- the same as a non-smoker!!!!
That means the Carbon Monoxide has gone from my blood. My tickly throat is aparently the receptors being free, not covered in gunk, and the dizziness is because we are getting purer oxygen now!
So anyone who does have the odd blip- don't let it make you feel so bad you think you may as well start again, just see it for what it is. A little blip.

When I tried to give up once decades ago - when they were about 50p for 20 - decided to put the money away each day into a tin, but just could not afford to put 50p into a tin each day, but amazingly I could always find the money to buy cigs:confused:
Stopped smoking 27/12/2007, but could start again at any time

Congratulations everyone and keep going as you CAN make it.

MFD even though you had that little blip think of giving up as being in a circle, you might fall out now and then, but - get back in just as soon as you can. The cravings will soon go, but in the meantime when you're feeling vulnerable, go for a walk or do indoor exercise or swimming. Drink plenty of water and think of that that as doing what it is...cleansing your system. The same applies to baths or showers, take one whenever you wish as that too really does help cleanse you.

Also drink Orange Juice (not squash) as it's good for helping with the craving, eat apples and any fruit and try plenty of deep breathing excercises. If I can do it, then so can you! You can get there.....keep in that circle.....for the good of your health!

Best wishes, everyone, tomorrow is another day closer to your goals.
